Early construction of a simple 00 garage layout

Stuck on the Mill wheel, perhaps, Sol?
Good to see you making things again, Chris, and that is indeed a smart little boat.  One to add to my list for the new Creek.  You are right about the painting too, it really "pops".  That scene is looking great.

Certainly sets the scene. You could call it 'gone fishing.' It's reminded me of the Jack Hargreaves programme 'out of town'.

Cheers Pete.

Hi Chris.  Nice boat, but if you leave the sides as they are it would be a “ clinker built “ boat. I think that the partner is waiting on the bank , with the picnic, and boiling kettle.   Best wishes Kevin

Hi Chris.  You shouldn’t have any trouble finding “Fishing Boats “ after Boris gave the trawler men, and women a kick in the teeth. As for the back scene there may possibly be a farm or two going cheap. Best wishes Kevin

Thanks everyone. I think the rowers relationship hit some rocky waters like mine and Teasel! As always there are lots of reasons but my push to get in the garage wavered for a while with items breaking and trains not running nicely. I got a Swallow DVT from Hornby (the one with the leaky lights) but the second it touched the track it shorted.

So the other day I took all the removable bits, hovered and cleaned everything. Removed the layer of dust which accumulates on platforms and roofs etc.

I then spent a good while cleaning the track and checking connections where the trains stuttered but we are now back to a running state.

I also spent some time today to build the full hull row boat. They come in a pack of four, so I can get a few more out as required.

I need to catch up on other threads too, to see all the amazing work everyone else has been doing.

I'm glad it's all running again.  I get very frustrated when things are not working as they should!  The phots are great, the third one in the group above really shows off the height of the sccenery and the topography of the land and it looks super.

While I was bored in a meeting today I decided to make one of the boats into a planter. Came out quite nicely I think.

That's what finally drove me away from N gauge, every running session had to be preceded by track cleaning and loco wheel cleaning was every few days! So far in OO I have not had to clean the track at all and I have only cleaned the stock once on arrival BUT that's only a few months experience, time will tell I guess. I hope it's not your garage atmospheric conditions causing problems

It will be. It isn’t a fully sealed unit, so the temperature/ humidity variations are going to be higher unfortunately. Also me cutting word etc in there builds up dust, so it’s my own fault too! Haha.

The pickups for n must be so small. They must need a little stay alive in them, esp for ddc.

I really like this shot Chris. Using the boat as a planter works really well.  :doublethumb

Cheers Pete.

You are becoming quite the master of the cameo scene.  That looks great.  Very "Garden Rescue"!

Hi Chris.  I have begun a debate, or so it seems, on my thread. I was disappointed at the size of seated travellers, and I was reminded of the “ cutting their legs off “ to fit them in the seats. Your platform attendant stood there waving his green flag about, is definitely a better scale , which makes me think that he is in a different category, would you please advise me on the manufacturer.   Best wishes Kevin

I saw Kevin. I don’t really have a favourite to be honest. I pick people in their looks (I’m very shallow!) haha. Noch do a very good range.

Bought a Hornby DVT from GEM last week. The second it touched the track there was a short. After investigating with the meter I found the rear axis power was crossed to the board. A quick re-solder has fixed it.

Also the ‘light bit’ (technical term) was all free in the body. Took a while but I worked out how to refit. Next job is to paint the surrounds of the clear plastic/rear shell to contain some of the glow. Not the best quality issues from Hornby there!

If your on about on the homepage Chris, at the bottom where it says 15 latest posts, breakage is aware its not displaying, and will be looking into it at some point. If you hit any of the other recents buttons you DO get the most up to date posts that you have or havent read, flagged
Cheers

If you see anything else there is a topic at the top of recents specifically to report it so breakage has one place to monitor, ill make sure this one is listed there

Thanks Matt. I’ll have a look. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to see the recent posts.

I navigate to the recents page Chris ( using any of the buttons) and then book mark the page in your browser, it should then bring you straight in to that page, you get 30 ? Of the most recents plus you can go back through several pages of the most recent topics
HTH

Cheers
