Early construction of a simple 00 garage layout

That's another great scene developing Chris.  The bridge looks great and the mill will be super in it's less snowy surroundings.  More water though, how brave!

I too saw your photo online Chris - when I did I thought  "hey - I know that scene" !  It is a brilliant little cameo although I'm not too sure what the fisherman is up to - changing his hand warmer for either a lobster pot or, better still, a fishing net being repaired would make it as near to perfect as one could get for me.

I need to invest in some new fishermen  :mutley

The fisherman in question comes from a farming set, I think he is meant to be opening a bag of seeds. Leave it with me!

Well, my plan is to do the stream first. If I mess it up, I just restart that section again… Then I'll have a go at the beach.  The scene is also removable so I have more control over it. I have a few features to add also a little waterfall where the water bypasses the mill.

I mentioned earlier that he's playing a squeeze box.  ;-)

Had to move the scene indoors as it is still wet to touch. The Sculptamold is not drying out in the garage.

It’s now safe in the study, which is where I’m working at the moment. Happy coincidence!

Isn't Sculptamold wonderful stuff. It sometimes seems a shame to cover it up but looking forward to the next wonderful piece of modelling. Is the watermill a purchased product or scrath built?

It is great for transforming the scene from blocky foam to a rolling landscape. I have brown paint arriving today along with a whole host of goodies from Great Eastern Models from the Woodland Scenic's field system to bring it to life.
The watermill was a Christmas present. I don't have the skills or time to create such a nice building. Michael is a building wizard!

I don’t often post mistakes, but here is one with my painting. It was meant to be a earthy base coat but looks more like I’m down a certain type of creak without a paddle!

I think I’d redo that before moving on!

I do that all the time Chris!  I've painted the banks of the Creek three times, and I'm still not sure about the colour!  Artists say painting earth colour is one of the trickiest colours to pull off….

Hi Chris.  A mill stream, seems to be, being a townie, I would imagine that the bank’s and backsides would be fairly damp.. and covered in some sort of grass and maybe a reeds in the stream . Some of the grass maybe a bit flat on warm nights.  Best wishes Kevin

Hi Chris.  Further more your modelling skills combined with your video skills seem to belie the Novice part of your name. Where I as a complete amateur on my iPad and iPhone keep tripping up, clumsy me, on straight forward projects to that end I have been looking for the buttons/ controls to allow me to make a video, but, it doesn’t seem that I can record sound on the iPhone, where on my £30.00 phone had sound recording on it, and it doesn’t seem possible to record my favourite ringtone either. Have you please got any tips or advice on either subject to help me through this B lockdown as it is driving me to distraction.  Best wishes Kevin

Maybe novice+ is an option. I really have no idea what I’m doing, I just try other people’s techniques out. Haha

As for the phones, I’ve no idea how to get your favourite ringtone on it. I rarely have mine off vibrate. I’m not even sure you could use a custom ringtone on the iPhone. I would recommend finding a technology or phone forum for such questions!

I used a wash to to e down the brown of the creak.

When on the beach in Cornwall 3 years ago I collected a small bag of corse sand. Perfect for use on the river bed.

Once the glue has dried, I’ll apply a few washes over the top to blend it in.

Starting to come together now the ground has a earthy look. Getting dangerously close now to testing out the resin!

So there we have it, I did it! I gave in to my fear and did the pour!

Seemed to go well, I had a small flood into where the mill will stand but I was ready with a glue gun to seal it. Spent the last half hour blowing gently to release bubbles. It’s now covered curing.

Was a little nerve racking, but fun to do!

And very good it looks too.   :thumbs

It will be interesting to see what it looks like once it's fully cured.
