Early construction of a simple 00 garage layout

Ha ha ha !

I'm wondering what you washed it all down with Chris - any left for me ?

That would be a Guinness. How about you? Did you have a good break?

Tonight I started on something a little different. Those that follow Teasel will know of the ‘secret’ second level which until now has been unused. I started planning how the entrance to Norcott station will plan out.

The second line will run around the top of Teasel bay and then round into the station. The station will have four continuous platforms and a single terminus. With some more switches on order, once they arrive I can plan it out a little more before building the structure to fit.

In that case I'll have to eat all those chocolates… too warm for them to last long.

Cheers Pete.

Do you have Cadbury readily available over there?

In any flavour/type. You realise of course that due to limited space in the fridge, this has to be eaten more or less straight away, therefore I'm now having trouble getting through doors.  ;-)

A quick edit because I forgot to mention that I'm rather partial to a Guiness  as well as a nice single malt scotch.

I haven’t posted in a while. Being doing some mundane tasks like adding a shelf for loco storage. I’m going to add some track/buffer stops to further keep them safe but keeps stock safe out of the way!

I’ve started work on a corner of Teasel which has been long neglected, behind Farmer jacks field. After cutting and supporting a suitable baseboard I started planning the location of the main structures.

The main focus point will be the old water mill. Wigmore water mill part of the Scenecraft range, a Christmas present from my wife. I have ordered a humpback bridge kit from my favourite Scale Model Scenery for the farm track to cross the stream.

Lastly I started work on the incline from the bridge, which ties up the two sections.

I quite like the above photo as it shows how close I’ve set the margins up between the layout and the garage door. I’ve had to remove a small section to allow the door to open/close. In the warmer months will provide a new viewing position to watch the model world go by!

Good scene with farmer Jack coming up the hill. Looking forward to seeing the mill area finished.

Cheers Pete.

Thanks. I haven't shown it much recently as I've wanted to fill the gap behind it. Having the area behind will set up Farmer Jack's field nicely.

Don't get too excited, there is a long way to go yet! I need to ensure I don't bite off too much also!

Mixed reviews tbh. It can be quite temperamental. Teasel has a large amount of track with isn't the easiest to reach, everything is modular so if required I can access areas from above, but also I can access (with restrictions from below). The track cleaner makes it far easier to keep the track clean around the back.

It does have a tendency to derail, I would say it is 99% more likely to derail than any other stock that runs on Teasel. When it does derail, the metal chases shorts the controller….. I made improvements by removing the old coupling and replacing with magnetic Hunt Couplings which seems to have improved it slightly.

If I could avoid using it I would, nothing beats a simple rubber really.

Go the whole hog Michael and get a CMX cleaner - fabulous piece of kit !!   :thumbs

I too am looking forward to your development of the water mill area Chris - if your sea front is anything to go by, it will be spectacular.   :doublethumb

CMX is the way to go, however, I had to buy a 37xx Diesel to pull it as my steam locos struggle
