Early construction of a simple 00 garage layout

The railings are loosely placed for now. I don’t want to glue them until I’ve e found a thin L shaped bracket to hide the edge of the wall and walkway. Need to paint some more railing but it isn’t the most exciting task!

Thanks. She is a little bit indecent if you look straight on! The boys like to race her around the sea wall, she is pretty nippy then!

Started working on the eastern cliffs, they look a bit of a mess at the moment but it'll come together! You can see the small harbour in the bottom right as well as the boat ramp. The other side of the ramp under the cliffs will be rocky containing rock pools.

Painted and fixed the fencing along side the station path as well as adding overgrown bushes at the top of the sea wall.

Then its back to playing! Class 33 slowly bringing empties back to the local refinery through the Bay.

Network South East Class 50 ticking over, waiting for passengers.

Hi Chris - it is indeed all coming along nicely.  I'm glad I am not the only one who begins a scene with it looking a bit chaotic before its transformation.  And I am sure you wil present us with another convincing scene. There are few projects going on here on the forum that I am looking forward to seeing, but I think the Teasel Bay beach and sea is at the top.

Thanks Evan and Michael.
When I start a new area I like to place things and move them around for a good while. It takes time for my imagination and reality to agree! Haha. Once it’s fully stuck down and filled between it’s all about he painting! That can really transform it!

Apart from the way you transform a mess into a super model Chris, I'm very impressed that you have at least a part of the layout sufficiently complete so you can take photographs.

I may well borrow that line of thinking - I'm becoming slightly swamped by all the "construction" going on with Maxmill at present and might try to split my time between ripping up bits for replacements and trying to get at least one  small area "done" so that I can post some reasonably presentable shots rather than constantly photographing a building site ……………..  On the other hand, I can use all the dust and debris as an excuse for badly exposed, out of focus  shots !!

Looking forward to seeing the boat ramp area taking shape.

Thanks Peter. I enjoy photography one of my other hobbies is aviation (not been much on the airshow circuit this year!). I had a few years before I started to visualise in my head how the layout was going to look and what it would include. There is no secret that Penhayle did and still does play a massive roll in my plans.
I quickly realised if I took on too much I’d struggle so I’ve always tried to break it down, especially as I’ve had to learn all the techniques etc. So to that end I decided I’d work in small chunks and get them to a state where I can take a nice photo and move on. I regularly potter around and add more detail, there is lots to add to the station.. benches and the station names wouldn’t go a miss for one!

I'm very much the same Chris…. I need to have the sense of having done something (I won't say finished, because I am bound to go back and add bits and bobs) which then encourages me to do the next bit.
Do you plan to have a boat on your boat ramp?  I am starting to think about boats for the creek, even though it is some way off, but suitable scale stuff seems hard to find….

I've had a brief look at boats. Given my harbour is tiny in real terms, I'm only looking for a single fishing boat and maybe a row boat..

The postman has just arrived with a rather nice package of kits which will keep me busy for a little bit! All the kits are from Scale Model Scenery apart form the bar which is from New Modellers Shop.

Looking at the length of those trains Chris, you must have a pretty big fiddle yard.

Thanks for the messages.
The tanker train fits nicely, and probably could be increased by another 4. The HST won't fit in the fiddle yard in its current length…. The "hand of god" is required! For the HST I'm am using Hunt Couplings, which are identical to the kids wooden trains magnets. So it takes seconds to remove a coach which then allows the HST to fit.

Hunt Couplings, that's a new one on me, had to google it.

I know someone on here was using home made magnetic coupling, but I didn't realise they were available commercially.

Good stuff Chris.

Love that video Chris - excellent station lighting but you'll need to invest in some of those coach lighting strips …………..they're only £20 a throw !!

I also love the clickety-clack sound - is that from a track joint or do you have a sound track running ?  I've been trying to find just such a sound track for ages but without success so far.

I remember hearing a brilliant sound track on Vic Smith's "City Edge" layout.

Another lovely video Chris, and I love the length to the trains - very impressive.  The whole scene looks great and it is a really good angle to see how the beach and wall fits into to everything.  Very smart!

Thanks for the comments all. Does anyone fancy a drink? Here at Teasel there is no virus, so you are free to mingle!
The beach bar is a Noch laser kit which I plan to sit on the sea wall on the dune side.

Added some detail and painted the insides.

I made a simple lighting rig using an off cut and glueing a small coil to the top.

First coat on the outside and added the blinds.

I know, that would really improve how they look in the evening. One day probably!

That is from the track. Probably down to the way I installed it as a novice, so there are some reasonable gaps! Lol
