Early construction of a simple 00 garage layout

Has anyone ordered from the Railway Conductor Model Shop before? I ordered coaches from them, coming up to a month ago. They have taken payment and since then other than complaining their stock is in crates I’ve heard nothing! Dreadful service, I’d recommend avoiding!

Ha, it’s a bit similar to ‘everything I’ve lost is always in the last place I look’…

I can't say i have heard of them.  I'm sure I read on this forum something about recommended traders (maybe it is in the forum index?) in the distant past.  I think it would certainly be useful to have some feedback on dealers other than just the usual suspects….

I hope the decoder problem gets sorted quickly for you….

At present, I think we all have to expect severe delays in deliveries - both into the retailers and from them to us.

During the height of the pandemic, postal services were severely disrupted - in our case, they were only delivering 3 days a week so, where large volumes were concerned, it must have created a mssive backlog.

All methods of delivery were also badly effected - be it post or carrier.

As lock-down has eased, I've started ordering "stuff" but have noticed, if it's actually in stock, it's taking much longer to pick and pack, longer to dispatch once packed and "normal" delivery times are roughly doubled between here and UK.

I've never dealt with Railway Conductor Chris but, as long as they're still answering their phone and e-mails, I'd tend to go along with them and put it down to Covid-19 …………………………

Normally I’d agree, but his communication has been very poor. He has ignored my last two emails over the last two weeks. I have no problem with reasonable delay as long as I’m informed. I don’t mind things being delayed in the post either, as the postal service are doing a fine job, they should be sent tracked, he simply hasn't posted them!

On a happier note, Teasel Bay has another unseasonal white spell again!

Another section of the beach started and the full length of the rear of the platform to join the sea wall. Once dried and painted will become rather unkept and overgrown with some rubberised horse hair brambles!

Looking good Chris.  I hope the overgrown bushes don't hide the fence too much though!  I saw the ice cream bicycle on Facebook…. very cool!

Tonight we saw some fast moving weeds take over above the sea wall. Hopefully Michael won’t be too disappointed with the amount of fence hidden!!

Wow - that's really come to life Chris - you must be delighted with it.

Brilliant "weeeds" - just as one would expect in that setting - what are they ?  Are they on some kind of backing material ?

It is getting there! I put down some static grass first as a base, you can see that on the other side of the gate. I then used rubberised horse hair in small clumps and tapped down as it dries otherwise it’s too tall. Then with scissors cut anything that doesn’t look right and remove it. Lastly spray with watered down pva and sprinkle a few mixed scatters.

I want it to look reasonable unkept, it provides a nice barrier between the station and the sea wall. Thanks for the positive comments, it’s appreciated.

That is looking super Chris, it has just the right look of unkempt, and I like the different colours and the varying heights of the weeds…. and yes, just enough fence showing through.  I really do like your painting of the sea wall, I comment on it every time I see it.  It's a wonderful scene which will really set the beach off well.

Unfortunately it was at this point that young Karen realised she’d had been sunbathing for too long and is going to miss her train!

Can anyone call a taxi for her?

Hmmmm…. a lady in a short skirt under a streetlamp in some of our coastal towns is not looking for a taxi…….

Was it the last train?  She was sunbathing a long time!

Oh dear! Maybe the DMU is the only one which stops at her station? Or the only one on the quieter route…
Either way, she got home safe!

Finally the two coaches I ordered have arrived after a month of waiting.  I can now run a 2+3 car service, still a way to go yet to get a full set!!

I feel the need, the need for speed!

Followed by a non-stopping local service

This is a fabulous photo - just enough blurr on the static bits ……..

A great video too - a sensible speed and I love the cyclist.   :thumbs

Thanks, took at least 4 attempts to track the train at the right speed!

Tonight’s job was planning and initial building a groyne. Once the glue is dry it’s time for painting.i also started painting using the technique Michael has mastered on the sea wall.

I liked this picture as you can see the real life sunset!

I agree….. I had assumed it was a capture from a video to get that sense of movement.  The train looks so crisp amongst the passing scenery.

The groyne looks great, I look forward to seeing it weathered, I am sure you will get it looking just right.

Why are you doing the sea wall differently to the wall behind - which I still admire!  Is it the effect of the sea crashing against it?  Or for detail and variation?  Or maybe because you can!  Whatever, I'm looking forward to another inspirational finish.

It’s a good question… I am not 100% sure myself. I think I want it to look a little different from the one behind. It will have a dye added like the other as would take full brunt of a high tide. The front wall is a Wills kit sheet with a smaller stone to the main wall.
