To hide the bolt you could drill out one of your passengers and insert said bolt up him….Ooh eeh ahh …that`s gotta hurt???

Could not resist that one……apologies to all….ops:ops:ops:ops:….:Red Card:Red Card

Made me grin when I thought I should really have my nuts below my bogies :mutley

Now I have a bit of a dilemma.

I have two more Hachette MK1 and three Tri-ang Mk1s fitted with Bachmann bogies.

Am I really going to run the Tri-ang Mk1s on the layout  :hmm
and/or should I pinch the bogies off two of them for the other two Hachetts :hmm

Basically they're both corridor which wouldn't really fit the era/line but the Triang is small compared with more modern models.

(Looks more like HO than OO)

You could sell your Triang stock to fund the purchase of new stock….:hmm

Wot, wiv no bogies :mutley

There now follows a not very good short video clip showing how well it runs on Bachmann bogies, which I've really posted as I've put it together out of four short videos using OpenShot Video Editor for Linux. (Who needs expensive Windows software )

The thing I dislike most about the Hachette coaches is the solid moulded truss/under frame, but the postman has delivered the new switches anyway, so it's back to the points.

Those shorter Triang coaches are the 57' coaches. I have a four coach train of these with the Bachmann bogies fitted, that I run behind my Bachmann 4MT or the old Hornby Class 29. Makes a very nice short passenger train. Great for those 'shorter than they should be' platforms, especially if space is of a premium. ;-)

Great video Ed, looking foward to seeing more of your clips. :thumbs

Cheers, Gary.

The Triangs are ok for what they are Gary, it's when they end up in a siding or the station next to the  more modern Hornby or Bachmann offerings they are not just a bit shorter, but lower and narrower too.

Might be something to do with their age, as when they were made OO was 1:76 and not necessarily 4mm.

To tell you the truth Ed, I don't own any of the newer Mk1's to compare, but Jack has a few Hachettes and I have never run them together to see the physical differences between them.

Cheers, Gary.

The Bachmann suburban coach right behind the Class 31 is a 57' but clearly longer than the Triang.

But your right Marty, it does run extremely well so I'm a happy bunny (again).

Probably worth replacing with on any Hachette coach anybody wants to run.

Could be I'm not the only person who's find that out though, as the Hattons price for Mk1 bogies has gone up to £6.76 a pair, where as Thompson, Collett, Commonwealth bogies etc. are still around £5.00 a pair :hmm

(When I bought these 2 years ago, they were £4.00 a pair)

Great result there Ed,
Those coaches are running very smoothly.
I tried going down the Linux route ,but this computer ( laptop ) won`t play. I`ve tried 4 distros now and no luck so I`m stuck with Windows.
Your editing has worked out well, and proves as you say, you don`t need expensive software to do the job.

Seem to remember you sent off for an Ubuntu DVD Gormo, have you tried a download?

Managed to cut another hole for a slide switch and then ran out of time, but you'll be pleased to know the 4:15pm departure from Latton Fields calling at all stations to Liverpool Street left on time. As did the 4:30pm straight through via Tottenham Hale hauled by J11 no 5317.

Class 105 DMU arrived a few minutes late from Basildon at 4:44pm on platform 2 and then ………………………………………………….

I had to go and start preparing the evening meal :mutley

All done using JMRI throttles on the laptop, didn't touch the Digitax Zephyr once.

Ed

PS: No animals were hurt in the production of this (short) running session, although I did find a dead spider in the goods yard.

G`day Ed,

Yes I tried downloads and even tried earlier versions and using Wubi to run it inside Windows, but there is some fundamental issue down within the bowels of this machine that doesn`t like Linux.
So…..bite the bullet and stay with W7 otherwise if I play around with it too much I`ll stuff it up.

:cheers  Gormo

Thanks for posting the link Darius, bet it's your Mac Toto.

Gormo

From what I've read, Wubi is not really properly supported.

If you can download to the PC you intend to use, then the Windows DVD burning software should create a bootable DVD that is compatible with that DVD drive on that PC.

Have you tried downloading Ubuntu 14.04 (.3) from Servers Australia, preferably '64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop image'.

http://ubuntu.mirror.serversaustralia.com.au/ubuntu-releases/trusty/

The file is about 1GB which sounds big, but I've downloaded from a University in Kent and took about 20 Minutes.

If Severs Australia is too slow there are other mirror sites.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+cdmirrors

If the PC is running Windows 7 you should be ok for the AMD64 version. If it's an older Windows XP PC it will still run but the i386 32 Bit version will run faster.

Don't give up, it will work.

I doubt that it will Ed,

I have tried Ubuntu 14.0.2, Linux Mint, Zorin…..these are all 64bit to suit AMD 64…..all have ISO images burnt on this pc. When they start to boot, error  messages come up and then they stall…..end of story.
So after trying to get it to work for about three days and trying various methods and combinations, I came to the inevitable conclusion that there is a compatability problem with this pc and therefore it`s not worth wasting any more time and effort on it…….Windows 7 remains.

:cheers  Gormo

That's a shame Gormo.

Still if it runs ok on Windows 7 it's probably a case of 'better the devil you know', on this particular PC.
