A client decided that the 3 month deadline previously agreed upon really had to be completed in a single month!! Why do they do that?
Needless to say that there has been many long days and even some weekends worked and as a consequence little progress has been made in the layout room.
However… There has been a little progress.
The first storage rack for the cassette system has been made. It fits in here, under the cassette table like this…
5 trains to a rack. Shortish ones, 14 wagons, brake van and loco or 3 coaches and a tender loco, but then it's a branch line and the passing loops aren't capable of much more…yet!
Since we were talking of a different perspective of the layout here's a couple of photos of it from atop the bunk bed showing current state of play. Firstly, Pentrecourt Halt and the Mill…
And then to the right of the first photo, Henllan Station and the Green Grove Milk Factory. All of the buildings for this section are RTR and are just place holders until scratch building what is/was actually there takes place.
Further right the line just loops around and eventually Newcastle Emlyn station will fill the space.
Questions, comments and suggestions welcome as always.
Especially now as the last drawing went out the office door this afternoon.
Cheers

I like doing the detail, I have to fight to stop putting in the detail… After all… It is N scale… and I only have one lifetime!

Another big step forward for the layout last week, something that I've never done before and has been a long time coming…
Lighting in the buildings.
In the photo below a Camarthen based 57xx Pannier with a short cattle wagon train works it's way up hill in the gathering dusk, past the late shift working in the Alltycefan Woollen Mill.

What sort of lights did you use in the buildings ? I like the nice 'soft' light they give. I've found some pre-wired SMDs on e-bay which give a very similar light and are very easy to install as they already have the resistors incorporated onto the little PCB.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111333602725

Trevor,
A chunky 3mm yellow LED and resistor as shown in the picture below. I wanted to see if I could do it myself, soldering, etc and the little bit of PCB also allows me to hot glue the assembly inside the building.
Now I know I can do it I'll start looking for and working with smaller components I think. Thank you for your link. Very useful.
I'd like to make up a platform light for the halt, from what I recall they were lanterns, one on the pagoda shelter and the other on a post near the exit.
Need to build the Halt first!
