Hi Marty,

I'll be happy when I see track going down and a bit of scenery being added. To me that is when the story begins to unfold. I've had a whistle stop tour of your thread and watch it come to life. I don't know what must be the most satisfying, the building of the various elements or recording it all and watching the birth of a mini location. when they are as convincing as your own modelling, they could easily exist whether modellers licence is utilised to a degree or not.

keep up the excellent work.:thumbs

cheers

Definitely a step up Marty(!) and an excellent solution to what must have given you a lot of forethought (isn't it great though when you find the answer and then put it into practice).   Incidentally, your soil colour is perfect for Devon! ;-)

G'day Marty,

This has come on a long way and looking fantastic. Can't wait to see all the greenery in place.

Cheers, Gary.

Hi Marty. I have just spent an hour reading through your thread again and I really enjoyed it. Things have come on superbly since those early days and the modelling just gets better and better. Whilst I am a green diesel man myself, I really like the earlier pictures of the Great Western steam locos, which I think fit into the layout so well.

Hi Marty
It's been quite a while since I had time to visit the forum and it's good to catch up on your progress, it is looking fantastic.
I'm currently (slowly)adding hills and greenery to mine as well as topping up the river (varnish) so will keenly follow your posts as time allows. Looking at your work I may well have to redo a few bits to improve their look especially as I am in a larger scale.
Keep up the good work.

Lovely progress Marty.
Your N gauge railway is a beauty.
Regarding eyesight and things small!
I have just invested in clip on magnifier,s.
They are light weight clip on to either reading or ordinary glases with 4 different magnifier lenses supplied, You can tilt the lense out of the way when not needed.
No having a big thing stuck on your head or trying to position parts under a static magnifier.
Siesta is the brand name, cost £18.

regards,

Derek.

Thanks for your comments.

The stairs were always in the back of my mind but what type, how and where had to wait until the buildings were in place.

I'm glad you are enjoying the journey as much as I am.
Bob…. All the way from the begining!!!  Respect! That's a fair old read!

Jim, I'm following your progress with interest and looking forward to your greenery.

Thanks for the magnifiers note Derek… My head mounted magnifier is falling to pieces and a replacement would be nice.

The Afon Teifi now has a base coat although I don't expect it to be visible through the tinted resin. The colour should, fingers crossed, enhance the overall feel of a deep pool before the weir.

Greenery is finally being added, I got sick of the rich Devon…sorry Welsh, earth.
The hillside and tunnel forming the scenic break between the Pentrecourt Halt part of the layout and the cassette fiddle yard has had undergrowth and trees added. The farmers track and surrounds have had a base sprinkling of green.

From the operator's position it looks sort of like this…

I wasn't happy with the tree colour, living in Western Australia for most of my life the predominant Eucalypt forest is a grey/green and I've come to model trees that colour naturally. Of course, the spring growth in a Welsh Beech wood is a vibrant, impossible light green.

So I went shopping and summoned up the courage to get these…

Sparingly added from above, darker first and flouro green last the trees look, to me at least, much more like they were when I visited that area of Wales in 2010.

The pagoda hut is sitting where the halt will be constructed.

Tunnel mouth ordered, while waiting for delivery the greenery will continue.

Cheers

Marty

It is at times like this that I wish I had full colour vision!  Not seeing Red/Greens makes life a little tedious at times.  The growth looks normal to my eyes anyway!!

I am quite envious of your scenic expertise!

Regards, Peter.

Each can do but little, BUT if each did that little all would be done!
