Marty,
Are you sure it's N gauge? You aren't trying to pull a fast one over on us are you? :mutley

One question Marty, you stated: "The styrene rod is 1.0mm x 1.00mm angle and the shortest length required was 6mm long." Am I reading this right, you have a styrene angle 1.0mm x 1.00mm? If so where in the world did you find it?

 the smallest is 0.8mm

edit  I can't get the link for the actual item to post properly so use the 2nd one

… and I'm pretty sure I'm using Evergreen.

looks like the smallest is 1.5mm x 1.5mm or .060"

You can order direct from them.

cheers

As you may be aware, I've been messing about with handrails and the like recently. I found them tricky enough to make in 4mm scale, so producing work of this quality in 2mm scale is nothing short of brilliant.

Those angle iron posts work really well and the whole structure looks extremely convincing.

Terrific stuff! :thumbs

You're too kind Perry… I should have thrown the first set of railings out and started again but I just don't want to see the hours of work wasted.
If I can get to half the standard that you and Wayne achieve I'll be more than happy.

Seeing as it's half the scale I guess that isn't unreasonable. :thumbs

You certainly don't need steps, Marty.
Great result there.

In passing: Squires have a full range of plastic profiles.

The more armatures before the poly filler cover, thought i would try copper wire..

First is the wire only , second and third are with added wire, they will be manipulated to form when dipped in the Polly

Just a thought Marty, have you dipped the armatures in PVA and casting plaster?... just wondering if that would work

PVA dip works OK.
Not sure about adding plaster but you can build up the PVA if you're patient.
(There is a tree thread somewhere).

They are looking pretty good frames.

My tree "frames" are dipped/painted in a "bark goop" mix, basically a creamy polyfiller mix with a good dollop of PVA added for flexibility and stickiness, and some brown or black plaster or concrete tint to colour.

I've never used casting plaster but suspect that it should work ok.

Excellent work Marty, I can see me coming to you for loads of advice in the future.

As for this picture, it's like a trip down memory lane. Do you really still use telephones like that down under?
