How do you hold all the wires to the bottom of the baseboards, to stop the wiring from drooping ? I have used blobs of PVA to hold it onto the underside of the baseboard on my layouts. IIRC, I learnt that one off Max. ;-)

A combination of interleaving the wires in between each other, wiring holes in the plank frame and the occasional bent nail "staple". The proof will be in the pudding it up the udder way…. (Sorry )

This "little" plank is a project that just keeps on giving! Now that the board and the panel are mostly wired it's time to connect everything up to the master bus wires under the layout proper…and being DC, to allow multiple operators, there are two cabs/controllers. One called Tommy and the other Dai Mathais. Both GWR engine men or guards on the Newcastle Emlyn Branch in the past.
Prior to the plank, the Henllan control panel switched all sections and cabs but now I want to remove the Afon Teifi cab control from Henllan…
and add cab control of Llandyfriog Junction to the Llandyfriog panel…
All pretty simple but changes none-the-less, including a new track power wire that needs running. This is why the panels hinge forward for easy access eh?
Getting closer to running trains…. I think?!

Very impressive……..I particularly like your control panel……it really looks the business. Which program did you use to design the panel schematic.??
Happy New Year.

The panel graphics are done in Microsoft PowerPoint. I've been using the software in my day job as an ad-hoc drawing package for 20+ years now.
My Mother's family grew up in North Wales during the war and they have helped me with the Welsh double L… But I'm sure I still get some of the place names wrong!
Several days have been spent tidying and rewiring to accommodate the new junction plank.
The old lever frame for the Afon Teifi sidings looked like this…
The Llandyfriog Junction panel now looks like this…. The cab labels have been made smaller and less "in your face". The spare slots in the frame are all accounted for with future signals…
The original layout wiring is progressing from this….
To this…
… The original Afon Teifi sidings have had all the electrics disconnected and the point motors removed but the track is yet to be lifted.
The new power cab feeds have been run… And yet there is still more to do… But not much more…
Cheers

The underside of my base boards look much more like your first picture, although my wires are held up with a few sticky backed cable clips and dabs of hot glue
Very well done Marty, looks nice and professional :thumbs

As to Dai? The electrics and layout control concept are developing as I go along. Not only in extent but also in complexity as my skills are tested!
The original plan was for two control panels, one for the Henllan Station and one for Newcastle Emlyn. Each panel controls points and cab switching for each station block.
At this point in time the entire layout has just two cabs, Tommy and Dai. Mainly because the layout room is so small I doubt that there will ever be more than two operators in there at any one time. Most of the time it will be just me.
In an effort to get trains running the original Afon Teifi sidings were wired up with point control via a lever frame at the sidings but cab control on the Henllan panel.
As the layout develops, with future plans for expansion ticking away in the background and my knowledge of prototypical signalling increases I wish to have section blocks and individual signal box panels controlling each blocks Signals, points and Cabs.
Llandyfriog Junction is big enough to warrant it's own signal box and as such will also need to control the cabs for the Llandyfroig Juntion section. Thus the removal of the Afon Teifi cab control from Henllan and the addition on Llandyfriog Junction.
I hope that makes sense?
cheers

Good spot… But already fixed on the smaller label. (Phew)
I thought it was an odd question for you to ask…stucking eggs and that sort of thing.
I had to order some Hawkesworth coaches after seeing your express on the viaduct… All your fault… At least that's what I'm going to tell the missus. ;-):lol:

Drat this internet shopping thing… it's so easy to get carried away. sigh.

So Marty, spill the beans on what the missus will never know, just what did you end up as well, or instead of the PL-26Bs?
BTW, I sometimes experience this phenomenon myself. For example, just yesterday I was ordering some more diamond cutting discs but also ended up with 60 micro drill bits, 2 keyless chucks, assorted brass stand-off pillars, 1.5 metres of 2mm brass tube. Oh and 50g of watch gear wheels for use as workshop clutter / wagon load! All that with free delivery from Hong Kong for just 23 British pounds. No, the bride isn't aware yet, but it is her birthday this weekend, so I thought I'd surprise her!
Bill
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

Well I've ORDERED the PL-26Bs and after seeing Trevor's express though that 5 assorted Hawksworth coaches needed to find a home on my layout too….
…. And then I saw 4-6-0 6820 "Kingstone Grange" in GWR green with shirtbutton emblem… So that managed to fall into the cart before I pressed checkout as well.
Now I'm waiting for a confirmation email that that little lot has been packed and shipped. Normally that email happens within 24hrs but it's been a couple of days so far.
Either the shop hasn't yet opened after the Christmas break in Liverpool or one of the "in stock" items wasn't.
I'll give 'me a couple more days before I start asking questions.
On another note….
The old Afon Teifi siding is being lifted…
Next to dismantle the raised track bed and install the plank. Woo hoo!
