Maybe. Although at around £10 a new kit wasn't beyond the budget had things gone wrong!

I’ll swap back to the 00-9 theme soon. In readiness for this a new Scale Model Scenery kit has been built. And has been deliberately set on fire!!!
Careful application of a match to the roof timbers and door - very very carefully indeed - charred and burned away some parts.
The kit was built to a point short of adding the roofing slates before being torched. The slates were then cut and glued to suit and the weathering applied - soot black, green and brown / rust.
It will be added to the layout shortly.
This process requires care, confidence, a degree of skill and a bowl of water nearby just in case!

What's that big silver thing with the numbers on it - looks a bit over-scale to me if it's supposed to be a snail ………….

I think SMS models are MDF so in a way, real wood burnt makes your scenic work look very realistic. Presumably the insurance will pay for a new one !!

The yellow bit sticking out of the big silver thing shows just how much progress I made on my layout last Month Peter. . . . Actually 8 cmtrs is a bit on the optimistic side !
Rick, I had to do a double take when I first looked at picture No 2. I thought for a minuite you had actually modelled the whole bloomin hillside ! I,m loving the duel gauge idea
Cheers

Invisible progress is being made. By which I mean there are switches and bits on order to improve the electrical performance and (hopefully) get that crossover working as it should. Even the wiring guru Brian Lambert doesn't seem to have a precise diagram of how that should be wired to a 4PDT switch. That's the one with two positions on the lever (no "centre-off" just "on-on") and twelve terminals on the back. Some of them need frog-wires attached and some will need power supply. But which goes where?

I have revisited the crossover wiring and ordered two DPDT switches which Peco suggests are needed for a twin-controller DC layout.
If I really wanted to have everything running smoothly I also need to fit isolation to various places but I shall cheat and work “one engine in steam” where necessary.
It’s a very small layout in a rather restricted space so there isn’t space for a proper control panel with switch-board.

Thank you Peter.
There's a Norse in the garden. Champion the Carthorse, perhaps. Not the ideal colour from the factory but whilst he has been dusted with weathering powder to look less plastic I haven't yet discovered "Railmatch" in "Horse Chestnut"

Jones the Engine checks his fire and boiler pressure whilst waiting in the station. A couple of passengers, maybe off the bus, await something a little more comfortable for onward transport. Nogood Boyo is sat on the log-pile up to no good.
The other Baldwin arrives with the bug-box rake as Jones shuffles out to make room for them. Weathering of all stock shown to advantage in these views. Remembering this is tiny 00-9 stock.

The hose on the Baldwin tender is a nice touch - did it come like that or did you add it ?
