End to End with Cassette Fiddleyard

Got most of the new loops in now and wired up, had a full play I mean test so started on the first of the retaining walls needed.

Card and the Free Scalescenes Sydney Garden wall texture (Model rail magazine code) but used in a different way than described.

The wall is about 6 foot in length, just plonked in place for now, need to do coping stones and some form of caps for the pillars

That is a long wall

What's going in where it ends at the curve Andy?

The corner by the curve will probably be some form of industry or goods facility, may even use the goods warehouse that I built for Deene Sidings.

Got the capping stones done, it just needs some weathering and greenery added.

Then spent a couple of hours building the turnout below which will take another track behind the loco in the picture above down to the corner.

May get the blades filed up and sorted later if I get time.

Cheers

Hi Ron

Its a folded dogbone, so the track will run along that back straight 4 times, 3 visable and one hidden although I will have full access to it from underneath due to the L girder construction.

Switch Blades added.

Far nicer and cheaper than a Peco/Hornby one

Needs Tiebar, gapping and wiring added, then I can install it.

Just had a read of this for the first time. All I can say is that it is truly inspirational. When I finally get the builder on site to finish my railway room (SWMBO has first call for her art room) it will give me something to aspire too.

There has been some progress but nothing worth showing yet, mainly just more track laying.

Some may remember the FW190 that I posted a while back as Spurno had spotted it in the background of one of the pictures.

Well this little Westie called Rosie managed to climb up onto my chair, onto the table and pinched the model and proceeded to take it to the garden for dismantling.

I went outside and spotted some grey bits on the lawn near the pool, then realised what they were.

Not much chance of repairing it.

Then had an idea.

One crashed FW190, just needs a bit of paint and a bit more greenery and it should look the part.

Next job is to errect security fencing around my modelling bench.

Noooo… Suprised that Rosie wasn't glued to the diorama as well!

Your track work is always inspirational Andy, if it's handmade, photos please.

Reminds me of the time when I was very young I made a glider, the type where you make the structure from balsa wood & cover it with a type of wet tissue which contracts around the frame when dry.
Being young I was inpatient so I put it in front of an electric fire to dry it faster. Knew nothing more until I heard my mother saying "Whats that smell"
Came into the kitchen to see my plane a heap of ash on the floor  It was the worst day in my life but then I was only 9 or 10 at the time

Hi Marty

Will post some pictures of the track in a couple of days.

Hi Tony

Balsa, covered in Tissue paper, rubber band powered, I have put this up high in the shed out of the way of dogs and the wife.

And need to find somewhere to put the ME109 before that gets eaten.

I never got as far as the rubber band on my model ops:
I like those planes Andy.
Could you build one big enough to put Rosie up in

Hi Andy, some very impressive work you are doing.  I am particularly happy to see you constructing turnouts.  :doublethumb

Pity about the Focke Wulf but you're already looking ahead. :cheers

Your buildings look top notch too - inspiring.

Thanks John, progress is slow, but I am getting there, it took a couple of practice turnouts before I got a good one, got three laid and working now, and will replace some of the ready to plonk ones as I feel the need.

The problem is I keep getting distracted by other types of modelling, picked up a un-opened wooden sailing ship kit the other day from a charity shop for £5.00, looked it up on the web and they are £76.00 new, maybe keep that as a winter project.

Hot air balloon would be the easiest to fly Rosie off in, mmmmm……

I know what you mean, we have four dogs (2 staffies, the Westie and a Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle cross) and any thing dropped soon disapears, the wife does jigsaws and many have missing pieces due to the dogs.

We also have an Amazon Parrot which comes out of his cage and will quite happily chew stuff up.

At least they spend most of their time asleep.

It has been a busy summer but not on the modelling front unfortunately, too many holidays and distractions some progress though, I got these two handbuilt turnouts laid and working so I now have a complete folded dog bone loop so can watch trains run while I am in the shed working on the layout.

Distraction number one

Carly the Alexandrine that we adopted from a rescue as a friend for our Orange Winged Amazon, Charlie.

Distraction number two.

Someone gave me a bunch (around 15) of Plastic model kits, armoured vehicles and aircraft so took one on each holiday with me.

Started ballasting this week on one of the loops and I am installing the first of the tunnel mouths, will get some pictures over the weekend to show progress.

Oh and Rosie the Westy managed to get hold of my crashed FW190 diorama and had another chew on it so thats total scrap now, only turned my back for 5 minutes the little git.

Lovely work on the F-16.

Wonder if Jamie Oliver has any recipes for parrot?    Maybe something in a paella?
