This weather is something else. We're iced in, which is almost unheard of here in Newlyn. Afraid to walk down Newlyn to the shops, yesterday. I can count on one hand the number of times we've had this kind of weather here BUT never this bad. So when I look at the TV and your photos I just am mind blown.

Hopefully as Rick says, little damage done to the layout, mate!

Take care!

Now that is a serious snow blower. It was almost hidden from view at one point in the really deep bit. Most impressive.

Apart from the fact that you'd end up spraying high velocity snow all over the neighbours' walls, windows, doors etc, that sounds like a good idea.

I have seen these a few times in G and they seem to work well even in frozen snow as long as its no deeper than the top of the fan blades. I have seen e few powered by 18v cordless drill motors.

The one thing that come to mind though is "mind your fingers!"

As for the car mounted one Dave, still got contacts at flymo ????LOL

Now that is a great blower, mindue i expect the snow has to be soft, otherwise it may not being able to move in hard snow?

It does seem to be dealing with some fairly hard-packed stuff at one or two locations including taking a run at one drift after failing to clear it first go.

Don't think I'll need one for a while though.  It's 43C here today :cool wink

It's been voiced earlier but do you have any concerns about the snow on the layout Dave ?  You said you'd checked but are you expecting much damage ?  As you know, I'm impressed by garden railways and now "OO" outdoors seems to be more common, it may not be as much of a pipe-dream as it once was. Extremes of temperature might be a problem here - winter often down to minus 10C or more and summer up to plus 35C or higher.

That temperature range might be a problem with structures but based on my experience outdoors not with certain brands of track.  Mine copes with a range of over 40 Celsius degrees.

Dave - I guess it's a case of wait and see how things hold up.  Where's the snow-blower when you need one?
