Looks good, Dave.  I did one out the front of our place.  I think I put sand under it from memory.  Only had to take it out and put it back about 20 times to get it right!  I've been looking at my back yard - it goes up at about 45 degrees . . . still thinking.

Zig Zag Railway?  Like the one at Zig Zag.

Heatherburn is looking a lot more loved now and I do like the idea of being able to cool off in the pond while watching yore trains run past!  Don't play with 12 volts at the same time though, unless you can get Brian to come and fix up a waterproof controller for you.

Perhaps a new meaning for DCC in the pond scenario would be Ducks Can Control ….. :thumbs

I know, Rick.  I heard about it at the NMRA conference.  Also interesting for Bob, Shays were also running at the shale oil mine nearby.  Word is there is a restored one somewhere in the Blue Mountains, from that mine.  Sorry, Dave.  Hijacked again.

I think with regards to this railway DCC stands for Dave Carn't Cope! Yesterday I back filled around the pond as I noticed that the liner had pushed out at one side. The ground here is very heavy clay and was hard work digging it out with a pick axe and shovel. I still have a big blood blister on my hand from where my wedding ring was in contact with the axe handle! I have also leveled off the back and placed a couple of old paving stones down to form the foundations for the waterfalls. I was going to continue today but after last nights rain the area looks like the somme! I want to do somthing realy creative around the pond involving some buildings and a few roads to make a small village. I might experement with building a small foamex building and then leaving it outside and see what happens. Of course I wont be using brick papers but a coat of brick paint should look ok due to the viewing distance being about 8 feet.

45 deg sloping garden sounds intresting Max plenty of scope for some big trestle girder bridges and tunnels. ;-)

With the current topic of disscussion being the weather I thougt about an update on the garden railway. Most of the railway has been covered with about 8" of snow. Today I have removed a lot of the snow from the railway to check the condition of the trackbed and I am glad to report that it is holding up well. There are no signs of the track bed cracking up due to the icy conditions that we have had now for the past three weeks. Anyway heres a selelction of pics from the past couple of days..

The water tower at Woodham station..

Cobblers hall signal box buried in snow..

Lakeside station..

Theres a railway out there somewhere..

The viaducts..

Thankfully the roof over the outside scenic area is holding up well..

The driveway yesterday..

Sunset last night..

Todays 'dig out'…

WOW!

I have been following the weather reports and disruptions to train and bus services but it's quite something when you have to dig the snow plough out of a scale drift almost 50 feet deep!!!

Might be a header pic in there with the sunset except … it's not a model.  Darn.  Great pic though :thumbs

What was that about being "only fair weather modellers", exactly??? :mutley:mutley:mutley

But seriously, folks, I do hope the weather doesn't cause serious damage to all those outside lines.
