Thanks guys I realy need to get this section sorted asap so it can be featured in a video for westcoast miniatures that I want to post on you tube. I have got the music done for it just need to shoot the video now. My origanal idea was some footage of the real WCML but looking through some of my previous I carn't find the shots I need. Once I have this section 'presentable' I will be building a moving camera platform so that the camera can track alongside the railway without juddering or going out of focus. This is not as difficult as it sounds as I already have most of the bits needed. ;-)

As im posting this we have a raging thunder storm outside! Today I decided to press on with the OHLE and was making great progress untill the rain started. The wires on the down line are now installed between the anchor point and the garage wall. If it stops raining I may complete the up line aswell. Heres some more piccys…

Two new masts

Back towards the garage…

Looking the other way..

Here comes the water! Normaly the rain dosn't affect this section of railway as the roof is covered over but eventualy the rain water runs down the path and you get wet feet.

Looking from the anchor mast back down the line….

A higher view….

From the motorway bridge…

Signal gantry now toned down a bit!

Right im off indoors as the weather sounds nasty and although the PC is protected via a rack mounted UPS im not pushing my luck!

Thunder storm , blimey been basking in glorious sunshine down here, so hot i have had to go topless whilst decorating :cool wink.

I love this layout and the more pics you take the longer it takes me to move along, so much to take in each time. well done mate.

As for the river flow you have going on, can you not build some sort of run off leading to a storm drain of some kind ?. This could be a deep hole with soil for it to drain into, just a thought.

I know Brian what a orable thought! Re the water I was eventualy going to lay some deck boards a few inches above the path so that the floor stays dry yet the water can still pass under. The feedback that I have had across the forums regarding the OHLE has been positive. I think that because that line is outside and I have quite a long run the wires look very natural and instead of overpowering the layout they actualy enhance it. The pics realy dont do it justice but hopfully the video will. ;-)

First it's great to be back on line after my enforced break! OK update time. First I have just uploaded the video update that I did two weeks ago so I will post the link shortly. I will be doing another short video showing the work on the control panel and todays addition the functioning cctv dome camera. With this camera I can now see all the layout from the control position and can move the cameras view via the joystick on the control panel. More later. ;-)

Sorry Brian nearly forgot. All my OHLE gantries outside are made from copper wire with brass rod for the registration arms. Not much point in spending money on the OHLE outside as I would be gutted if it all got damaged or worse still pinched! For potters lane I am hoping to use brass rod as the layout will also double up as a sales stand for westcoast.

Sorry about the sound I had problems with the video camera hence the use of movie maker! Think it was because I had the external HD connected to the PC via a small usb hub. Doh!!

The layout is protected by gaurd dog security ie. Oscar and Jake my german shephards! Cat's wont come near the place. Track cleaning a rubber sanding block and elbow grease. During the winter the track is sprayed with WD40 makes spring cleaning easer! ;-)

Lovely, Dave. I especially like the 3rd pic. I think with a bit of dull brown or grey or green paint slapped over the red wall it would look even better. Not trying to find extra work for you

86 219 "Phoenix" was the first BR Blue loco that I had and I loved it.  Ended up selling it off years ago because they would never appear at Penzance

Great piccys Dave. They make me think of electric locos running at high level through Manchester on their way to Stockport.

I'd just love a control panel like that one as well.:thumbs
