Thanks Marty. Well actualy another change of plan produced this…..

Now just to put thinks into perspective here the leds on the signals are 1.8mm dia! The display its self is no bigger than the top of a pencil. It uses 35 strands of plastic fiber optic tube and is made up of 5 rows of 7. The left hand row needs lifting slightly and some of the dots dont show up as well but close up it is definatly the letter M and the other is a B. I still have to paint it and add the back plates and mesh. It took somthing like 4 hours to get this far so it will be a one off!! :thud

With the positioning of the signals im thinking of mounting platform 1 & 2 signals side by side under the bridge

Lets hope you dont drop it mate, 4 hours work could go down the pan as well if you move those wires too much when you put it into its location, be a shame that would hey :mutley:mutley

the question is… will the operator be able to read the signal indication without getting out a magnifying glass?

Great work Dave, that is something special.

Not being completley happy with the route indicator it got rebuilt into the mk2!! For the rebuild I omitted some of the fibers that were not needed. The display was again made the same way the diffrence this time was where a light was not needed I only used a piece of fiber as a spacer and cut the rest off. The fibers were also glued with super glue. The finished display was 100x better that the first attempt I just wish I took some pics as someware during the finishing process it all went wrong again. Taking it to bits this morning I relised that as the super glue set it made the fibers brittle and stopped the light shining through. So now im working on mk3! For this I have done away with the fibers and fitted two boxes one above the other with a 3mm led in each. Stencels will be fitted over the front to give a B or M as required. Anyway heres some pics of the mk2 before it got rebuilt again!!!

Wonder when a good time would be to mention there should be a separate indicator for each signal? :pathead

Looking good Dave - we can hand signalling construction over to you for the modules then?

The saga of the signals continues…….

Modelers licence Chris!!! :pedal

Just glad that these are installed as they had to be taken apart again when one of the yellow leds accidently went pop due to the wire coming into contact with the supply minus one resistor!!!  Still have to add the mesh once I have painted the back of the white leds black.

It looks just the part Dave & thank heavans for Modellers Licence. Question - how did you do the letters please? I know a LED with a stencil so how did you make the stencil is what I mean? ( I gotta be careful on how I ask questions- can't seen to be a dunce ya know!)

Never fails to amaze me,the ingeniuity of people on this forum!!!
Amazing stuff.I must consider using fibre optics for station lamps/inside signal box, etc.
…….Now actually getting it to work is another thing altogether;-)

Now THERE'S an idea John, should make wiring up a station lamp in N gauge a lot easier. Bravo.
Nice progression from one option to the next Dave.
