This is a breathtakingly real-looking model railway.
But this thread has something weird about it. It doesn't get the "N" icon when there's new posts in it
What model railway ?

With all that inspiration you should take up railway modelling sometime Phil.

Nah! Allan, too many great layouts on this forum, too much competition, I wouldn't know where to start :)

Here's an area that needs filling…decided on old sheds and stables, there's still some work to do but here's some progress shots.

Thanks Max and Tony, still some way to go with the scene, some fencing etc to be added and foliage and whatever else I can think of,  I haven't found any convincing chickens yet either:???:

Fantastic as usual Phil but please get the stable door diagonal bracing the right way up.

Thanks Allan, but around here as long as it swings on a hinge the right way up doesn't matter, there's a place close to me where my sheds are like 5* compared to the ones there

Allan
That's very interesting Allan.
I didn't realize there way a right way up as I've seen pictures of the bracing both ways.
Then again I don't know anything about door bracing.
I'm just happy if they open & close properly

Incidentally Phil if you decide to get rid of the stable because of the door bracing, just let me know & I'd be delighted with it. My horse won't mind which way the bracing is.

Hi Tony.

The diagonal brace stops the door from sagging. If it's fitted the wrong way up, it will assist in the door doing what you don't want a door to do.

Back in the 70's I was the master at hanging doors upside down and one certain article demonstrating this in the RM invited comment from every carpenter nation wide with several suggesting that I should be taken out at dawn, blind folded, and put up against a wall !

Hi Allan.

Thanks for clearing that up. It makes perfect sense.
As regards being shot at dawn I'm surprised it wasn't a door that they wanted to put you up against

Absolutely splendid Phil.:thumbs
You have a gift for creating these nicely understated but completely realistic cameos. 5 stars for sure

I didn't know about diagonal bracing……I have a sinking feeling I have 16 shed doors where there is a 50:50 shot I got them wrong…….rather than spoil my evening I think I will check in the morning! :hmm

Thanks John,

I've found a horse good enough to stick his head through the door but his owner is reluctant to change the door bracing as he doesn't know his left from right and his a**e from his elbow  :mutley…I still haven't found chickens that look any good so I might just leave that run empty, just add some fencing.
