Hi Allan,

I find sea foam works really well for Birch type, as for the others back into the thread, I have used the twisted wire method, also Hydrangea flower stalks covered with Woodland Scenics.

As for bushes, I use the above, and also include coloured wire wool and horse hair.

That's stunning Phil…….I can't believe I didn't write to you about the other mogul shots earlier this month. Old age I guess:oops:

They were equally brilliant…..unbelievably realistic. Photography apart you have every right to be very proud of your skill in making that model

John Dew- "That's stunning Phil……..unbelievably realistic. Photography  apart you have every right to be very proud of your skill in making that  model"

Agreed

Real 'benchmark' modelling in all disciplines, Phil, but I know I couldn't bear to do that weathering on such a lovely model even if I could build one that well.

  Header photo material, surely?

Hi Doug,

I know exactly what your saying about weathering, and after building and painting the loco looks good and it's almost like going backward by "aging" it, but very often I see excellent realistic layouts with bright shiny locos and they just don't fit in, but everyone to their own, for me doing these so called realistic shots, the loco's need to blend in and in real life everything is not bright and shiny :)

Thanks Marty…appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, Phil. I do understand really. Above all 'Rule 1 applies - It's MY model railway'.

More please!

Thanks Max.

There are only a few areas left to develop on this layout, one is the station, i've not really thought about buildings etc yet.

Here's some old pictures of the area.

What did you use to colour your rails Phil? It's very good, whatever it is.

…and the trees are superb.

Actually Marty, the rails are Phosphor Bronze SMP I bought them to save painting  However, the ballast and surrounding area's were sprayed with a muddy brown colour, this would also add to the rail effect.
