The primer is cellulose car spray from Halfords.

I see what you mean about the lifting transfers:twisted:……….who made them?………They mabe the wrong ones anyway?
I mention this very diffidently…….but are you certain they are the correct transfers for GWR wartime black?
Knowing you, I am sure you will researched this in detail…..so maybe its the photography :pedal
To my eye they look like the GWR for green locos rather than black……..the black ones have a red edging which I cant see on the photos.
DJ Models H1405 Class 48xx 0-4-2T 4807 in GWR Wartime black with G W R
You have made such a beautiful model it would be a shame to have the wrong lettering

The transfers are Pressfix, they are now fixed proper!
The info I have is:- GWR large letters were used on all unlined loco's from 1943 to 1947 and your right, it really is the photography as the letters are really gold, red and black, if you blow up the pictures the red just shows
The loco is all wired up but I have to check the DCC manual to get everything working as I haven't run loco's for at least eighteen months

I'm a little late to the party here, having been away from the interweb for a week. The old boy is looking ruggedly purposeful in his wartime black, with wonderfully effective weathering. Excellent modelling, but that fireman's not working hard enough yet, as his face is way too clean!
Do you use any of the commercial softening / fixing liquids when applying decals?
Bill
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

and yes I can see that the decals are correct……never doubted you for a moment!

If you ever have a good picture and fancy doing a PS job on it and need a little help, you know where I am, once you do it you will get hooked and that goes for anyone also :)
