A new Rapido has been bought and runs perfectly so there must have been a bad batch out there, also, what I thought was a blown Loksound decoder in my old 57xx is now working :)

Certainly moving in the right direction Phil.

It really annoys me when faulty locos make it through as far as the end user.  Can you imagine what problems I'd have had if I'd bought a similar model …………….french customs would have had a field day.  That's why I no longer buy from UK online but here in mainland Europe, I have the problem of most models being Continental outline but HO scale to boot !!

I'm assuming from your recent posts that Pen-y-Bryn is not about to be dismantled now ……………….

No sledge hammer at the moment Peter 😳😂 98% of the track has power and I’ve added a few more lights, over fifty in total, most of my locos are running and the two new ones have been weathered 😊

An observation:-

It didn't seem to matter so much with DC , phosphor bronze rails which have been on my layout for thirty years are great because they tarnish to brown so no painting needed but the down side, the rail surface tarnishes in a couple of days after cleaning which is not great for electrical contact!

My 40 year old 4mm gauge DC 61xx white metal kit, Mashima motor 60:1 has just had a makeover, DCC Loksound sound decoder and a weathering job.
