On this occasion, I prefer the coloured picture and in particular, that bit of track in the foreground. Are you sure it isn't a real bit of track photoshopped in ? The way the ballast sits just below the sleeper surfaces which do appear to be proper creosoted timber - brilliant texturing - and the chairs - I assume it's hand built track - but the amazing thing is the rail weathering. A fantastic rust colour with a not-over-shiny rail top. A fabulous bit of modelling - unless it is real !!!
The photo backdrop is perfect for the setting - I think you told us once where it's from but please remind me ……………….
The only thing giving away the fact that it's a model is the light ……………………….. :hmm The light falling on the little Pannier and it's huge train is wonderful - the evening summer sun bathing everything in that lovely warm glow. The photo backscene however, has the light coming from the opposite direction …………………. :thud
p.s. I had to look hard, very hard, to find any slight clue that it is in fact, a model ……………………… :cool wink :cheers

Nothing I can do about the backscene lighting (ID Backscenes) this again is real light on the layout, the way around it would be with photo floods.

I don't think it's really that important who or what built the track and backscene - it's the overall picture that matters and that was yours ………….

Of your recent additions, i love this one….
It is seamless between model and photographic backscene and the way the train is just appearing, with the snippet of coaches is a great scene. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking back through your thread (yet) again!

How did you do the moss on the roof - it looks very realistic. :thumbs
A few of you are making it really difficult to select photographs to nominate for the December POTM ……………. :???: Maybe we ought to go back to the days when we had a Picture of the Week ……………. :hmm

The moss on the roof was created by painting with diluted PVA then sprinkling with Polyfilla.

One tentative suggestion to complete the scene…..I know its a sleepy Welsh branch but I think your trains are likely to irritate the local bobby without a head code:lol:. Modelu lamps come with a hole pre set in the pace so you wont need to smear superglu on the locos like me.
Best wishes
