Instead of scrapping the layout and building a new one I decided to re-do areas, the first is the loco sheds, they are nearly finished but here's a bench for inside, the vice is cut from 3mm. square section styrene rod.

Phil that really is lovely - I can almost see "Record" cast into the side of the vice!!

Add a grumpy old bloke on a boiler suit and job done.

Thanks guys, it was basically a whittling job with a craft knife, when it's installed in the shed, there will be a grumpy old bloke added

Wow, I've only just saw this Phil. Absolutely splendid whittling, well done to you and that grumpy bloke in the boiler suit!

I'm so glad that you're not scrapping Pen Y Bryn  :)

Bill

At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

I bet you could clamp something in that vice and work on it.

Cheers Pete.

Luffley! Did you see my leg-vice in my 'Bothy' post? Not quite so modern as yours…

Excellent job on the workbench, I hope it will be visible in the building…. too good to be hidden away.

It's a lovely summers day all year round, so the bench is outside.

Thanks all.

John, you're right, scrapping it was not a good idea as a new layout with all the work would become a chore and not fun!
