Even if model loco's could produce a sort of steam, the problem is that because of scale…molicules etc it would not look the same as the big stuff!

The difference a backscene can make!

I also made up some lineside plants, the Buddleia heads are red plastic sanded down, the red becomes a kind of pink when this is done.

The music……based on the Jools Holland, Emelda May, Jeff Beck versions.

Fantabulous, is that a photoshopped backscene, a drop in board with a backscene on it or have you stuck it to the window 🙃❓

Thanks Marty, the backscene is real, it's ID backscenes.

Beautiful work Phil. Really like it :doublethumb

One thing that bugs me (or might be my screen) - when I go to post 1203, the pictures are larger than normal, and take a few seconds to load - then I have to use the scroll bar to see all of the picture. Anyone know why?

Doesn't detract from the exquisite work, I hasten to add!

Go for it Chris, what I like about them is, they are not "in your face" they have just the right amount of cut back to them and they are what it says on the box.

Well that garden looks very tidy but yes the backscene works nicely. Great detailing with the lineside plants!

Awesome detail. I particularly like the flowers.

Can I ask how they were done?

Cheers

They are all pretty impressive, Phil.

I was particularly interested in the pink and paler (white/blue?) ones in your post of 3 Dec. I won't show my lack of horticultural knowledge by trying to name them.

Cheers

If you mean the ground covering ones as the picture below, they were made from…salt, yes, I know that some people give this a no-no because of insects etc, but I have never had any trouble with this and the salt is coloured with paint anyway….well, most of it is  :)

Ok, this is what I did, mix the right colour of Humbrol (matt) onto some plastic, then tip some salt on it, move the salt around with a cocktail stick etc and add more until all the wet paint has been absorbed, you should now have dryish looking clums. Spread them out to aid drying.

When they're dry, put them into something like an egg cup and grind them with a back of a small screwdriver or something similar, spray the area with diluted PVA and just sprinkle on, some of the salt will have dried out lighter and that's what the white is.

Hope this helps,,,don't forget to get permissing to use the salt from "her indoors"  :mutley

The "Buddleia" (tall pinkish plants) are done differently, I can go through that too if you want.
