Petermac's Railway

Poly sheet, scored, and the area sunken so it fits flush.

I too was very impressed by Michael's bridge Phil but even he said that sometimes, it disappoints ……

Your "progress shots" are stunning.  If I can get mine to look anything even approaching that, I'll be thrilled.

I see your base is card - what do you use to stick plastic to card ?

I'll order some Wills coarse stone sheets this afternoon - not without some trepidation I can assure you !!

My comment regarding folding Wills to make a corner by cutting or filing a V at the back and painting Styrene (Not PVA) to soften to aid bending.

Did you finish this post Phil ?   :hmm

How do you glue the plastic to card - with styrene glue ?

I don't know what your PC skills are like or what software you have, but I darkened the scalescenes sheets in a photo programme before printing, which is better than trying to weather it afterwards with paints and powders.  Just a thought!

Veering slightly off topic.

I like your bridge Michael………could you expand on the darkening process please ?

How do you save a single page and what suffix/format do you use?

I use Irfan to initially load and  control my jpg files then I send them back and forth from Afffinity.

The ability to darken sounds like a great idea

Sorry Peter, I said in my original post, when bending Wills sheet to cut a V in the back and then paint on PVA glue in the V, this should have been Styrene glue which slightly melts the plastic making it soft to bend.

The sheets are glued on with UHU or something similar.

Thsnks Phil.  Your bending technique came out as PVC so I assumed styrene - I know PVA is no good on plastics.

UHU I do have but all my styrene glue appears to have evaporated over the last couple of years of idleness……. I'll have to source some here because I don't think they're allowed to post it overseas - "noxious substances" and all that.

Any contact adhesive will do for the main sticking, it's not absolutely essential to use styrene on the bends.

In spite of an extraordinary ordering process with Hattons, it appears my Wills coarse stone sheets are now ready for dispatch.

Now the fun starts ……..

No Phil - I took what they'd let me have - only 4 packs !  That should do at least 1 pier,  allowing for binned attempts at painting the darned stuff  !!!

I did look on loads of sites Phil and was amazed at how many were out of stock.  I was also, looking for the price closest to Hattons coupled with the cost of delivery to France.  Some I thought,  seemed to be sending it by taxi judging by their charges.

In the end, I was "Google drunk" so gave up.  That's when Hattons said I had in fact,  ordered and paid for it !
