Modeling resource

For those not familiar with these booklets, the series "Track Layout Diagrams of the GWR and BR WR" by RA Cooke is a great resource if you want to model a prototype or are looking for inspiration (or how the GWR actually did it). Based on the real plans, and covering the period 1870-1975 (or thereabouts) they covers everything except signal locations (which could change depending on conditions). Most are available on the auction site or through the usual railway book sellers.

I've got one of these covering Penzance to Truro Area. They are really good. Recommend them to anyone if they see them. I think he did them for the whole country but not too sure. He certainly did most of the GWR in Devon and Cornwall.

I'm old, that's why I'm allowed to change my mind, when I can find it.

There is a series for GWR & SR signalling diagrams by George Pryer, quite a few on Ebay at the moment at £12.99 (they are soft covered) they each cover a set area, e.g. Swindon to Bath, East Dorset, Somerset & Dorset,  Berks and Hants line etc.
