Not sure where this should go. When using S&W couplings, how do people fit the loop on a loco? I use a fine p/b wire behind the buffers where it's hardly visible when dulled down.

It all depends on the loco I guess.
Sometimes I use their mounting plate, but other times I've drilled holes in the buffer beam.
The most important thing is to use a jig so that they all end up the same height, (and the
same distance out, relative to the buffers)


To help mine 'disappear', I just use a black permanent marker. It's quick, easy, cheap and
doesn't upset the smooth action (which chemical blackening can, if it's overdone).

Some people make a loop by running a wire between the actual buffers. It apparently helps with cornering.
