Not good, not good at all Kev. Do you know if it is a case of retirement or can't compete?

Bob re-model spares, he tried to retire 2yrs ago but could not
sell the business,so he started selling lots on e-bay, so my guess
is he is now retireing this time.

I recently lost a screw from a loco and wrote to Hornby asking if they had one. They hadn't (of course) but recommended the following for spares.

East Kent Models on 01227 770777

www.Modelspares.com or telephone 01282 771109

Abbiegails Spares 01733 266959 or email:- abbiegails-spares@tiscali.co.uk

The middle one is the one closing (I spoke to him and it is retirement) but the other two seem to have Hornby's recommendation. Sorry I dont have their website details.

I just tried Modelspares but not allowed access now.

I am attempting to obtain finer tender wheels for my Hornby Castle. I am after similar flanges to those on the Grange - unfortunately the method of bearings are different so I cannot use the Grange units.

Very sad that Model Spares have gone - always found them very helpful.  Managed to get a few things for the spares box just before he closed up at the end of April.

Here are a couple of sites I found that seem to have a comprehensive stock.  Not used either yet so no idea about the standard of service.  The second one is Abbiegails - clever site address 8)

Here is another link for Hornby spares,Just type in the parts code for your loco ect into the search tab on their site.

regards,Derek

PS: They seem to cater for a lot of parts, wheels, motors, pickups bogie sets, coupling rods ect for most of the Hornby loco range since.

orded a couple of 5-pole motors and pickup sets for a couple of B12 chassis, also wheels, pickup set for an old britannia chassis which had tender drive, going to convert it to having a motor in the main loco chassis and build a new body, Hmm just maybe a LNWR Claughton may come out of it.

I Have used East Kent models for bits and pieces in the past.
They also do Bachmann spares as well.
I don't think they have a web site, I seem to remember having to telephone my order in.
They also attend quite a few exhibitions and always attact crowds of people to their stand so they must be popular.

One not to forget is a dealer that was at our show. "Richard's Spares" is mainly concerned with spares for current Hornby, Bachmann etc., but he does have quite a lot of older spares as well.

Phone him on 01443 - 685163
