Wiping a decoder

Can someone tell me the easiest way to wipe a decoder so I can sell it on? I have a Hornby Elite and currently am just setting the number to 0003 and changing the acceleration and deceleration settings back to 0. Is there anything else I need to do, like removing the loco name (although I believe this is held in the Elite rather than the decoder isn't it?) and would you say this is the best way to do it if selling them on?

Ps, anyone want to buy any decoders?

Trainfish you should be doing a factory reset

It s usually cv8 but check your instruction on each decoder to comfirm what to use to do factory reset.

What you are doing setting Accel and braking to 0 may not be the standard setting and a person who does not play with cv`s could think the decoder dont work.

Each decoder should have instructions if not go to the website

I'll look into doing that Brian, thanks. I should have the instructions for each one so shouldn't be a problem. When I say I'm setting the ACC/DEC to 0 I don't go into the CV settings for that, although the Elite maybe does. The only difference it makes is that the loco/decoder responds quicker than when I had the ACC set to 20 for a smooth pull away from a station.

Owen, give me a couple of days or so and remind me if I don't come back to you. I have mostly 8-pin but a few 21-pin and due to me now deciding to go DC with the N gauge layout I have just 1 brand new, never out of the packet 6-pin. There's a picture of most on my For Sale thread mate.

I think it was on here that i read .   select cv 8 and set it to 8 ,and that would be the manufacturers default setting.
