It is the same in a a way it results in a message going directly to the persons email account but… When you click on the email button it opens a window to type a message with no facility to attach a file, hence I couldn't send the picture.

Yes that works more or less the same as posting them here.

You must also be able to opt to receive no emails, Bob.
Because when I click on the email tag at the bottom of John's posts, I get a message saying "this user has opted not to receive emails, try sending a private message"

I thought I would resurrect this topic, as I have a bit more info to add.

I took a five picture panorama from our back field, and stitched it with the software that came with my Canon Ixus 220.

See the example shot below:



It came out at a size roughly 14" x 77". I reduced it to 12" x 55".
Contacted our local Signwriting company, and he told me that they could print it in full colour onto sticky back vinyl for £30.

That seems a much easier and better option than trying to print it at home - and not too expensive, either… Stick it on to Hardboard/MDF/plywood/aluminium sheet… and you have a backscene.

Referencing previous posts on this thread, if anyone wants panorama photos of West wales area, I'd be more than happy to take some.

I'm using a FREE downloadable programme called 'Posteriza' which will convert any jpeg file into a multi page panoramic print. This is one that I am working on for my Parmouth Harbour backscene.




It's a photo of Brixham Harbour and I firstly cropped the photo down to get rid of the habour foreground and as much of the sky as possible. This now prints out at 5 A4 landscape pages wide and the definition is still perfectly good enough for a backscene. However, I plan to reproduce the bottom row of buildings as low relief buildings using this picture as a template.

As I was involved in the discussion I'll update by saying that I took a lot of photos when I was in Wales in 2010 with a view to making a photo background, but found it difficult to get a view that didn't have impossibly large foreground trees or modern buildings in the background, etc. etc.

Things that i probably could have touched up/out in photoshop but in the end it was too much like work with the photos were used as references for colours NE shapes and I bit the bullet and brought out the acrylic paints and brushes.

Now that I have gone down the road of painting my back scenes for NE, which I really enjoyed doing and am very happy with, I will carry on doing so for continuities sake.

However, painting is not for everyone of course and the stitched photo backdrops are a great way to go.

… And I will need some photos of the approach to the Cardigan station across/along the river flats  as reference for the extension to NE please Shaun… Seeing as you are there.

Particularly to the East of the A487.

No hurry though… It will be  few years before I get to building the extension. :roll:
