Recycling for the sake of it?
Owen/GaryThanks, might give that a go if I get time today.
I could do with a break from contact wires, catenary wires, Mk1 & Mk3 posts, registration arms and insulators.

Tied up with domestic duties this afternoon, but I've started cutting where the red line is on the picture.

Sort of working, but the top of the old coupling mounting is higher than the bottom surface of the chassis.
Just have to trim the two bits that will get left afterwards.

Just masking it up so I can spray a bit of primer on the bare metal.
Also been thinking that if I'm going to use this one in a fixed rake, I could use an old T/L as I won't be doing magnetic uncoupling so don't need to us a Bachmann one.

Bitter wind blowing straight into the garage, so nothing done on the wagon front today.
I did manage to get some black paint sprayed on as well yesterday, so it's just find suitable spacers, drill a couple of holes and I'm in business.

Neighbour's wife got shut in theirs a few years ago and it was a couple of hours before her husband found out where on earth she'd gone.
She didn't have her mobile phone with her and he thought she'd gone to the local shops.
Luckily there is a light.

There not as central as they should be (teach me not to measure properly) but they'll do.
I've only appear to have some M2 x 6mm self tapping screws which aren't going to be long enough, so I'll have to order some longer ones.
Looks like I'll need about 2-3mm spacer between the chassis and coupling.

Just ordered the longer screws which should arrive mid-week and I've plenty of styrene around for spacers.
If I'd had longer screws lying around it would only really have taken a bit of time and nothing in monetary terms, so I certainly think these old wagons are worth recycling.
