I too can vouch for Nigel.It's worth checking stalls at exhibitions and swap-meets as well - I got my copy only last month for £3!
Johns books are well worth getting, though when Doug brings his out Ahern volumes will have stiff competition…

Your teasing us now, with the cottages, cant wait for your build post on them… would even find your failings to be of interest :-)
I really need to get hold of a copy of that J Ahern book, I have had a look on the internet but not sure if the prices being asked of in excess of £20 is a good deal or not for the condition they are describing the book to be in.
Thanks for all the kind and funny remarks, I will start a separate thread for the cottage buildings, if only to show that sometimes even the great man J.A. was not always 100% right, and was probably glad that digital colour photography wasn't about when he was modelling……
