I would like to recommend this site for the service , value and probably biggest range of railway books on the internet .

If I am looking for out of print titles or the more unusual aspects of railway history its usually one of the first places I look at and I thought it may be of use to other members.

I have in mind that Norman Kerr, late of Grange-over-Sands, may have ceased business and his entire stock was sold on.

Its a long time since I was last in Cartmel but I used to drink in the pub opposite the shop quite regularly and now you mention it I have a vague recollection on my last visit seeing that the shop was empty so you may well be right but as you say it would be nice to know one way or the other if anyone has any further information.

For anybody visiting North Wales.
I can recommend the book shop at the Welsh Highland railway in Pothmadog Always well stocked and a good selection of titles too. Not just narrow gauge as you might expect at a NG railway emporium.
