Looking at recreating Great Yarmouth Beach Station, (M & GN), on the east coast in the 50s' and 60s,. I lived 50 yards from the station and remember playing on the disused platforms as a boy and in the bomb pit which was the extended sidings to the north of the site.

Welcome to the superb YMRC :)
I am very new here myself but have found the forum to be very friendly and helpful. Best one I use.
The idea for a lay out you have sounds fantastic, looking forward to seeing how it develops.
All the best, John :)
Oh, Dr Beeching what have you done?
There once were lots of trains to catch, but soon there will be none.
I'll have to buy a bike, 'cos I can't afford a car.
Oh, Dr Beeching what a naughty man you are!

It sounds as if you have the perfect motivation for recreating a version of Great Yarmouth Beach, with that personal experience from your formative years, so all the best and enjoy the research and layout development.
Bill
At 6'4'', Bill is a tall chap, then again, when horizontal he is rather long and people often used to trip over him! . . . and so a nickname was born :)

A warm welcome from the sunnier climate in Spain.
Good luck with your project on Yarmouth station.
Being an old country boy from Suffolk, my project is Ipswich station - or based on it given space restraints.
The chaps and chapess's on here are a friendly bunch and very knowledgeable and I am sure many will be able to assist you with your era of modelling.

Are you going to just the station to a fiddle yard or hoping to include a destination?

Looking at the track plans there are many sidings which could make the layout complicated in terms of size. I will have to rationalise the plan and take advice if there are any glaring errors. I was looking at having a run round circuit with the station building and sidings as a working area. I have 6 boards 400 × 1220 and more of a non specific size. Modelling in 00 scale. Know catfield, saw 2 clubs in that location. Gary
