Going to the UK
My local club was exhibiting at the Montreal Railway Museum yesterday where a team from the UK is helping prep the Dominion of Canada for its return to the UK in a few weeks…so I shot some quick pics…enjoy. Btw…the guys told me it was in better shape than the Dwight D. Eisenhower if you can believe that….![](https://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa185/Genetk44/DSC00065.jpg)

A rather sad looking sight when you think what she once looked like. Still, at least she's escaped the gas torch …….

The majority of the population has little or no interest in "old" stuff so it's left to the volunteers and enthusiasts plus what little cash governments offer.
I don't really think these locomotives, or any other "museum pieces" are directly a governmental responsibility. They (governments) should fund museums adequately and the directors of these museums should decide what to preserve and what not.
You could argue that a Gresley A4 "Streak" already exists in good working order - do you need 2, ………….or 3………….. or 4 ?
