00 Gauge - Charde

Another station on the Devan and Summersett
Not wanting to stay on one modelling process until it is finished, I decided that I better carry on with road works before I get too carried away with concrete paths etc so I have finished laying the basic raods.2 mm Balsa & it will be coated with full strength PVA, smoothed and hopefully it seals the balsa and removes some of the grain.

Coloured plaster will be used over the sleepers on the outside of the running rails.
I think Charde will keep me busy for some time on the scenic side of things.

An excellent way to do the road base - no risk of cracking and a good base on which to paint. I'll also keep that "on file" for future use.
Looking very good Sol. :thumbs

Also, is there going to be a little crossing keeper's cottage - it seems a bit far to be controlled by the signalman in his box ………

I looove that fencing Sol. Is it card ?
Also, is there going to be a little crossing keeper's cottage - it seems a bit far to be controlled by the signalman in his box ………
Peter- card is corrugated - se post 119 onwards & especially #138.
Gates are now automatic control upon entering the viaduct coming to Charde & set by drivers via radio when they want to leave, the same radio sysem they use for point motors as the signal cabin is now closed.
See the new point motors in front of the box?

Opening with a pickaxe I can imagine - closing with a pickaxe ummmLooking good, Sol. After our Club day on Sunday you can make them open and close using a Picaxe chip. ;-)

Although you say the levers won't be seen from normal viewing distance, you know they're there and the box will lo0k as if there's at least something inside. So often you see one with a complete void inside. Even if you can't see the detail, I think it's always better to have something vague in there.

Did you like the venture into whitemetal modelling Sol ?
Peter, what I did was simple - not sure if I want to tackle a loco though ! I do think that this kit is overpriced.

I'd go along with that Sol. I thought I might try one for the crossing box on my Maxmill module - until I saw the price !! Matchsticks, wire and balsa would do a similar job I'd guess.……………………………………………………………………I do think that this kit is overpriced.
