Kev,
What are you going to build the loco out of?

That sounds like a very ambitious project, not sure if I would try and tackle it.

When you said your first scratchbuild, what exactly did you mean by it? Your first ever scratch build or just your first Loco?

Wayne

I have a vague recollection that Staffordshire Museum were involved with this engine at some time in its preservation history as it was originally destined for display at Shugborough  so they be worth trying. Also I think there is a Staffordshire Railway Study Group of some sort .

From memory construction is fairly simple and much of it from photos I have seen seems to have been made using wagon building techniques as on photos the bodywork seems to be part planking and strapping like coal wagons.

There was a very similar Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway version for which High Level Kits made a kit for a 4mm scale model.

Go for it Kev.I love following threads on loco builds, but most seem to be kit builds/bashes.Its going to be nice to see one done from scratch....I've been threatening to do one for years, but bottled it!

I was going to suggest the MRM Kev but Owen beat me to it.

I understand they're usually quite helpful although I don't know if it's a free service ...............
