News of the new Scalescenes kit to come very soon from John Wiffen- "The up coming Low relief high street contains 8 different facades and 6 different shopfronts that you can repeat and 'mix and match', to create different combinations." I understand there will be a 'Tudor House' in the façade! No excuse for every street in our layouts to look the same, is that 48 variations or am I being too simplistic? ![]() Doug ____________________ 'You may share the labours of the great, but you will not share the spoil...' With 2 boys under 5 and his debut at Warley this year I imagine he's a bit busy but it should be before the end of August. Wouldn't fancy packing to travel from Australia with the 'shop' and a family! Doug ____________________ 'You may share the labours of the great, but you will not share the spoil...' The latest re the 'street scene', still no firm date! "Busy working to try and get my Low relief high street out at the moment, but I will upload the red tiles that Doug used on this [Harbour office] roof as soon as I can..." The tile thing will be great, lots of scope for small, rustic structures that would never have had large 10"x16" tiles, sheds, extensions, lean-to type things.. Definitely all worth waiting for. Has anyone built the "new" church yet? Not that I need an English prototype. Just curious...

Many thanks for that link, Doug. Some excellent (and very informed) reviews there.

FWIW John won't be selling at Warley - so as not to get in trouble with HM Customs. He will be showing some models and talking to anyone who wants to know more about his kits. He may also give away a link to a free download. As he put it: I'm really just planning to set up my little display and see if anyone is interested in coming over for a chat... could be sitting twiddling my thumbs/shunting on my boxfile Inglenook or meeting modellers non stop for both days - who knows? You read it here first! ![]() |

Ian - where is John based (that he may get into trouble with HMC&E?) There's no physical address on his website.

Just a heads up - release date is now Oct 5th. Combines 7 different facades with 11 different shopfronts (including a bank), interior details, 38 different business signs (old and modern) and 5 different 'type your own name' signs. To be followed in November by a low-relief cinema and department store: Selection of old and modern signs (including 3 different 'type your own film name' cinema fascia signs). Anyone care to suggest some suitable film titles? ![]() |
