After meeting Jeff yesterday the long run in,to the opening day of the show has started, I now have a large number of Raffle tickets to distribute.

The prize is a original Framed  Oil Painting  valued at over £200 ( copy below) kindly donated by MikeC, Thanks again Mike :thumbs:thumbs

The tickets come as a book of 5, each ticket is £1.00.

All surplus profits from the show and also the selling of these tickets will be donated to the RNLI and Help the Heroes Charities

As we have over 100 members on this forum, and a lot of you will be either coming to the show, or helping in some way, I am sure that you will ALL take at least 3/5 books to for yourselves and even more to sell( far more in some cases !) All members that are exhibiting at the show, can sell at least 6 + books ;-);-), as most will be going to other shows as well :roll:

Can you all please PM me with your address and phone number, I will then send you all as many books as you all require along with a 6x4 print (inches) of the painting, after selling the tickets, the stubs along with the money will need to be returned to me.

All unsold sold tickets and stubs along with the money, must be returned to me by the 31st August 2010

This a very rare opportunity to own a one off original FRAMED OIL PAINTING, by our very own, well known professional artist Mike Cawdrey, don't miss out on that chance!

Rick

I have altered the main text above to show "inches" thanks for pointing that out.

With regards to over sea's selling, maybe one person from each country could take charge, and collect all the money, we have Marty & yourself coming over to the show, we have Bob coming from Spain, and Peter from France, you could all collect the money and stubs and bring it to the show ?

Just a reminder about Post #1 on this thread.

I sent my money to Alan a long time ago to pay for some raffle tickets plus admission ticket so I will have a momento of the occasion & if my number/s are drawn as the winner, I would like the organisers to re-draw again so someone in the UK has a chance of winning it, outside of me..

Just wondered why the sample ticket on Jeffs exhibition thread shows the draw to be taking place on 3rd September .

Misprint ?

I would have thought that there was a great opportunity to sell the tickets at the show unless there is some reason that cannot be done .

No not a misprint Richard

This raffle for the painting is intended to be drawn before the show hence the date as Jeff has pointed out because of rising costs in all areas we need to raise funds in whatever way we can this raffle is a way of increasing income which ultimately will give more to donate to the charitys

Thats why i am hopeing at least all UK members can take some books and sell them

I will be honest up to last Saturday i was pretty dissapointed in the amount of pm`s Alan had recieved regarding raffle tickets

Less than 20% of the membership had bothered to contact him which i felt was pretty poor im hoping by the time Alan returns from his holiday his message box will be full of pm`s.

There will i believe a seperate raffle on the show days to be announced yet

cheers Brian

I would have thought so too, Richard. I hadn't realised that it was being drawn before the show. Oh well...

Also it's 18x12 ins

I've added this post to the show information thread :-

Just to clarify two points that have been raised -

Firstly the image of the raffle ticket is a first draft copy and the actual ticket does say that the painting is 18" x 10".

Secondly, the draw date was meant to say "closing date" but this slipped through my proof reading :oops:

I don't suppose the winner will moan about having to wait an extra few hours so that we can make the draw "live" at the show.

Nice to see people paying attention though :exclam :thumbs:thumbs :mutley:mutley

I suppose there would still be nothing stopping us selling these tickets at the show, but I wonder if two raffles running at the same time (we are having a daily raffle for donated prizes) would be too much of a good thing and brass people off :question:question We really do need to get the balance right here and the raffle for MikeC's painting is aimed at friends, family and member's local modelling friends, people who will not be attending the show but don't mind giving a pound or two towards a good charitable cause.

I still fail to see why the painting is aimed in that direction when there will be a [hopefully] large collection of railway enthusiasts in the one place, many of whom would recognise the location depicted. If the aim is to raise as much money as possible, it can't possibly be a backward step to offer it as a raffle for the duration of the show. That was also my wish and intention when I decided to do the thing.
Even so, I hope it can be won by a member of this forum - one who wants to keep it, too.
Finally, it was donated for fund-raising use by the committee as they see fit, so I guess I'll be quiet now. I won't say one more word about it.

I can only repeat my last paragraph in the post above, Mike.

I thought it would be an ideal way to raise some money for the RNLI from people who were not interested in the show, but like either railways or good art. Should ticket sales be less than we anticipated (slow uptake at the moment, but plenty of time yet), we may well end up selling some at the show by leaving the painting and the spare tickets on the member's stand and showing people what an excellent work it is.

As I say, my only concern is that sales of the one raffle would affect the other, which is why I've been keen to get the tickets we've printed sold before the show. There will be plenty of modelling related prizes available for raffle whilst the show is on.
