It all depends on what happens in Australia Tim.  It's still got to do the rounds of Sol and his "neighbours", then off to both Marty in Perth and up to Brisbane, then it will leave Oz.  The problem for me is, where next ?

There's a small window at the end of February to get it to Novice in Liberia via a courier going out from UK.  You'll understand postage in Liberia isn't as developed as the rest of the world so to courier it in then have Novice post it to the States via their (US) Embassy staff would be far safer than just popping it into a hole in the wall somewhere in Monrovia !!

I'm not sure we can get another country in before the end of February so it may sit in UK for a week or more.

There are one or two time-sensitive slots to try to catch.  Liberia, Sergio in either Argentina or Austria and Canada could be tight with regards timings.  I'm trying to make sure it catches the Olympics in Vancouver.

However, rest assured, you'll be kept well informed. :thumbs

Just a passing thought and it might raise a bit more money. Why not save all the stamps off the packaging of Matilda's trip and mount them on a board with the logo and a brief description of the journey. Possibly framed and signed by Chris or somebody. It's definitely a souvenir I would like.

It's a worthy idea Bob although too many places now just print out a sticky label rather than use stamps.

I can't remember the last time I bought a real stamp at the local post office other than Christmas specials.

I don't know about anywhere else but here in Spain you take your package to the post office to get it weighed and then you pay for the stamps to the cost and stick 'em on yourself.

Unfortunately most places now just print out a special barcode and postage rate - rare to actually get proper stamps anymore!  It still sounds a worthy idea though, even if only to prove the travels.

I'm sure if you take it to a Post Office you can opt for postage stamps rather than a printed label. You just have to ask..

Surprises me really as Australia, along with many other countries, rather prides itself on it's stamps.

A good idea Bob and, if anyone receives either wagon with stamps on thw package - thaey could forward them to Chris.

Here in France, it's also rare to get stamps - justy a non-descript "La Poste" sticker with the amount !!

If not stamps - how about a photo of the Post Office when Matilday is "sent on" her way?

That too would make an interesting souvenir Tim - and the photos can be taken whenever you're in that post office again either with or without Matilda. :thumbs

You'd just have to make sure the FBI didn't think you were "casing the joint" for a raid !!!!!

There you go, stamps would make a terrific souvenir.

Something tells me that the Penny Black pre-dates even the earliest forum members ... ;-)

Based on e-mails from Max, this coming Sunday, he visits us all ( Ian, me & Craig/Connor)  & takes photos so I assume it will be off to QLD next week & then to WA with Marty.

Petermac better get info to Marty about who next. (if he has not already done so)
