That's very generous, Phill.  Is the blue one a prison van?

I hope I am not speaking out of turn here as I don't wish to upset anyone's apple-cart. It looks very much as though a "single wagon" project will begin next Saturday when Max, SRman, Neil Wood, myself and Mickleaar plan on meeting at various times and places across the day. We may or may not all end up at Penhayle Bay.

We have a number of generous offers at this stage. Given that the tour appears to be starting in Melbourne on the 9th January what we require is a suitable vehicle in new or very good / professionally painted condition by then and with and agreed YMR logo attached. This latter can be printed from a computer file so it matters not where it originates.

After a few trips across Australia, which will give a Global Co-ordinator both a chance to accept that mantle and a bit of breathing space to direct the tour, the vehicle can then be mailed onto the next leg.

Next Saturday seemed too good an opportunity to miss given the number of layouts (probably three) and members (hopefully at least five) who can be involved. It also kicks things off in the farthest corner of the World from Camborne so far as YMR membership is concerned and the wagon can be seen as therefore making a somewhat indirect one-way trip from the farthest point to the show.

Great we are on the move. That will be one much travelled wagon before it even leaves Australia.

I would hazard an educated guess that the Cornish members (and those nearby in other parts of the south west) might be among the later recipients of the wagon simply because they are clustered fairly close to each other and to the show.

It might well be possible do "do the rounds" between, say St. Columb / Perranporth and Newlyn in a day by car which would add several layouts and members to the list without adding to the transit time by more than a few hours. Much as we are proposing to do to kick things off over here.

Receiving this parcel will be better than any Christmas box I've had this time round.

Well done the Aussie Members    :doublethumb

I am looking forward to seeing the first pictures appear in the "Wandering Wagon" photo thread.

I don't pretend to have taken on the role of "Wagonmaster" which I think belongs elsewhere.

What I can say is that the journey will start among the Melbourne area membership on Saturday 9th January and that we have a lot of support from the other Australian membership.

From here the wagon will go via South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia (in an order to be decided), possibly through other states also, before leaving these shores on its way north.

In something of an irony I might even be in a position to host it twice, once in Australia and again in the UK. But that's probably taking too many bites of the cherry.

More news coming. The "World Wide Wagon" project is rolling.
