In a funny sort of way the arrival of the loco I aquired from Rick's Penhayle Bay layout changed my perception of the forum from Virtual to Reality as it was a nice thought that the engine now hauling stock on my layout had performed a similar function on another forum members layout which was thousands of miles away .

It has given me the germ of an idea that could involve all members wherever they are in the world with our show . Obviously its not possible for everyone to attend or even have a layout that is able to attend .

So the idea is simple - a model of some sort  , something small - might be a wagon , a figure or a vehicle with a YMR logo is despatched by Bob from Spain  to  Chris at Kernow to arrive in time for the show . However it is not sent directly but goes through the post  via the members .. As each member receives it they take a photo of it on their layout or with one of their models and post the picture on the forum before sending it on to another member .

Eventually when the model reaches the show it is displayed with copies of some of the photographs and a map showing where they were taken and how far the model has travelled so showing the international nature of the forum.

What do you think ?

Hi Richard

The Cheshire model railway group have a roving wagon that does similar. See http://www.cheshirerailwaymodellers.org/crmwagontourpage3.htm

Do you have any Kernow livery wagons Chris?

Cheers

Jim

It doesn't have to be an original idea but it does seem a worthy idea which I like.

Perhaps a suitably-competent member might relivery a wagon into a YMR-based livery as an alternative to KMRC. Nothing wrong with Chris's business (quite the opposite in my opinion) but it avoids any sense of overt commercialism.

I'll happily take my part if we get this going.

I was otherwise engaged at Midnight. With a bottle of Bowmore, a miniature of Glenturret, a tray of mince pies, the fireworks from Sydney on TV and Sharon in my arms.

Happy New Year. :cheers

SWMBO has put her foot down.
I'm not allowed to have Sharon in my arms.

Great Idea WT

If we are only going to use one wagon or loco, it should start it's travelling down under first and then make it's way to the UK

How about a design that can be posted on the forum, so  that we can all download it and put it onto a wagon ?

We had a similar excercise on the taw vale forum where a few members posted wagons to each other and then photo'd them on each others layouts. At one point all the wagons made it to taw vale garden railway where the complete train was photographed. Sounds like a good idea so put me down. :thumbs
