i am starting a workbench thread as i have a number of small projects on the go. my first one is a couple of RATIO lineside huts. they are easy to put together. the only problem i found was finding a photo for the colouring, the only one i could find is the ratio model :? i done some experimenting and ended up using a colour called mushroom ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just needs a few discarded needles, empty white lightning bottles and an upturned shopping trolley ![]() Reckon they are pretty good Matt, there is a slight purplish hue to some parts of it, perhaps a grey wash might add to it. Great texture though and I love the graffiti. |

First time you have used an airbrush! looks like you are an expert already! Joking apart, those huts are a really nice job. The colour and texture are great. The graffiti adds realisim to the scene too. |

I like them, Matt, but as Mike said, I'd tone down just a little with a very thin grey (brush) wash. | |||||||||

Matt I think they look the part and you have captured the concrete effect well - which is not easy to get right. The graffiti is neatly applied too. Bob(K) |

Mojo yes i used burnt sienna and i think it was burnt umber mixed together, these were watered down to about 70% water 30% paint. i then used a good sized brush and washed this over the wagon. i then used a tissues to take away surplus. this was done 3 times to build up the rust. Diesel yes the bogies and lower part of the wagon were done with an airbrush. apart from the hut above this is the first time i have done a kit(only scenery before). i like the airbrush and the effect you can get, it is just getting that consistancy of the paint right when mixing. i used railmatch underframe first then underframe dirt. i think they look a bit uni formal, i have just done a second wagon (will post pics) and added brake dust to the bogies and then sprayed underframe dirt. i think they look better. Les Good question (i hope chris will jump in at this point) ![]() ![]() |
