I know we've had a little bit on this station and branch if I remember correctly, so first off, I'll provide a link.. - http://railwaystations.fpic.co.uk/p19794397.html -

Doesn't really beg the time and effort for producing a trackplan does it? :P The idea came after reading about Ian Futers & S. Davies little layout "St. Jude" in the May 2004 issue of RM.

So, the little details:

Concept:
Simple. A perfect base to have a first go at modelling or trying out a new gauge/scale.

Scenics:
The station itself, a small carpark and if you have enough room, a small section of sea wall and beach. The only major details would be the plaform shelter (Ok, it's not as good a structure at St. Ives, but the Shire Scene's Bus or Platform Shelter (Reference #SH-S30) would provide a good starting point rather than scratchbuilding), the fencing (this could be Ratio GWR Spear Fencing with a blue color change) and the usual randoms seen around small stations of today.

Operation:
Again, a very simple DMU in, DMU out method. Depending on how you design the layout, the BR Blue period with Class 121 "Bubbles" or Class 150/153 DMU's for the present. (The latter would be my choice)

That's as much as I have on this one at this un-godly time of the morning. If anyone has anything to add on it or more prototype photographs, fire away and throw them inti the pot!

Hi..

The GWR Journal's Special Cornish Issue has all the info you will need of St Ives. Track plan, images and more images.. I would offer to scan them but there is just to much (34 pages).

So if you can get a copy you will be set.

PS.
There is a copy on ebay http://tinyurl.com/5gupmw

Market rate for a mint copy from a book seller is 27 pounds or thereabouts, they are pretty rare.
Good luck.

I've bid on the copy that's currently on ebay, so if anyone else on the forum decides to bid, please let me know and we'll try to avoid bidding each other up :!:

It is well worth the money - an excellent read, but then being all about Cornwall and GWR it could not really go wrong :D

Cheers for that Brian. I'll pick it up at the start of next week. :)

It's slightly uncanny that I've had the suggestion posted and things start flooding in related to it!

Well, perhaps Marty didn't want to know about how much I had to pay for my GWR Journal, "Cornish Issue", but I'm so pleased you'll have to know anyway.

Purchase price 1.50
Postage price 0.90
Total price paid 2.40

And a first class read it is too :!: :!:

Well done Jeff,
That'll teach me not to look at e-bay first.
Mine arrived today (at 10 times Jeff's price) but it's still in the envelope pending time to read it.

However, it does now mean that I have every one of the GWR Journals from the preview edition to number 57.
Just got to catch up with the later editions now.
