An additional software module, that can be added to TrainController™. +4DSound™ adds realistic and spatial (4D) sound effects to the operation of your model railroad. Why 4D? Sound effects are not only played at the according locations in the regular three dimensional space of your train room but also affected by timing, train speed, attenuation and other factors.

+4DSound™ uses a series of stationary speakers placed around the layout to re-create the sound of trains traveling along the track. It does not require installation of onboard sound decoders into each particular locomotive.

+4D Sound

See Train Controller post for main software.

Another sound system is arriving
as advised by one of my modeller mates here in Adelaide.

As you may know I have not been a fan of sound in its present form. That is
with the speaker in the somewhere in the loco. To my ear it just doesn't
sound right mainly because I suspect the speakers are too small.

Digitrax are just about to release their sound
system. Here is a link to a
PowerPoint Presentation to the system.

As this is a under the baseboard system I think the reproduction will be a
lot higher and more authentic. Also, you can mix other sounds with it.

There are limitations to the system and has a price tag of $A600 which I
guess is the biggest limitation although the price includes all the
hardware.
