Early start ( 5.15am so as to be out of the way of Sydney's peak train traffic)  at Sydney Central with the two locos headed by the  Class 42

The Class 42, affectionately named "grandma" was detached at Cootamundra and the Class 47 continued to Griffith via Junee.

The countryside has been badly hit by the drought and wheat hoppers and silos sit empty.   As we approached Junee the landscape was made brighter by fields of canola where farmers had been lucky enough to have received water from a local storm.

After three nights in Griffith visiting local Vineyards, and farms that are in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA) and are lucky enough to be still getting some water we headed back via a Temora - a line that is not normally used for passenger traffic.
This sign was spotted on one of the properties - a long way from home? or made by a "cocky" with a sense of humour

Was this someone with a sense of humour? -the metal lettering riveted to the backplate are all over the place !
The buffer stop has seen better days too.

Grandma rejoins the train at Cootamundra West = a station no longer used by the general public.

The other side of the "platform"

Total distance traveled by train approx 1300km
