Having returned to modelling after an absence of over 2 years I updated to Version 9 of the software. Today I set up my first new block in a long time so I'm not sure if its a recent feature but I noticed some different options in the block set up. Being a creature of habit I set the block up the way I have done it for the past ten years but thought it would be worth seeking input from other Club members as to whether they use these " new'' features. For the record before setting up a block I set up a contact and allocate it a connection number. Then I set up the block - I do not allocate it a connection number but allocate the contact which shows up under "existing contacts" ![]() I have highlighted what I think are new options that I do not use- the two that interest me are the "reversed polarity" and " Digital Power" ____________________ Dave Notmutley British OO outline, DCC - NCE PowerPro, Sound chips, Computer Control- RR&Co software |

Seems like you have stumbled on Computer Section Control - see section 18.4 of the latest manual (2018). Is that what you're trying to use? Edited @ 14.57 ____________________ Robert |

Ah “Running conventional engines without a decoder” I had forgotten all about that, so I was more than a little confused when I read your post this morning.....never seen that screen before! ![]() I hope you are enjoying V9 Dave......there are some great new features. I have still only scratched the surface. One of the new innovations is the introduction of variables .....there have been a number of posts on the subject in the RR forum......I have yet to attempt them......would be interested to hear from you or Robert on the subject Regards John ____________________ John Granby III Lenz DCC,RR&Co Gold V9 B1 Windows 10 |

I am still working on getting the layout John so just coming to grips (again) with the fundamentals. For instance in the digital setup where you stipulate your digital system there are tick boxes and options. One of the tick boxes that comes up for most systems is "Poll signals .. " which would be very useful as everytime I start TC none of the signals light up until they are triggered by a function. My solution is to have a button which I click on to trigger a macro which turns every signal to red.( the option of polling does not appear to work for NCE - or for most of the systems listed) One of the new innovations is the introduction of variables .....there have been a number of posts on the subject in the RR forum......I have yet to attempt them......would be interested to hear from you or Robert on the subject Havent come across this yet What page of the manual is this described? I am a sucker for being distracted ..... ![]() ____________________ Dave Notmutley British OO outline, DCC - NCE PowerPro, Sound chips, Computer Control- RR&Co software |

Hi Dave Check 14.3 System Events Page 285 You can automatically trigger a flagman when you start a session or it resets after a power outage. The flagman will automatically reset your signals to red........but I suspect you can get it to do something more sophisticated using conditions and or pre requisites I use it to set a number of turnouts to normal because they are operated by an early DCC Conncepts decoder that suffers from memory loss! It works really well Variables 14.4 Page 320 A number of people are using them for destination boards so the name of the train changes with each arrival.....very impressive but not essential for me I am sure that there are applications that would save a load of repetitive programming on Granby.......just havent got around to trying anything. Had a quick read - looks very powerful ( and complicated) I think I'll stick to the basics for now and come back to it when I have everything else under control ![]() ____________________ Dave Notmutley British OO outline, DCC - NCE PowerPro, Sound chips, Computer Control- RR&Co software |
