Hi
My name is Evan and in the words of that great English poet, Mick Jagger, allow me to introduce my self.

I am retired and live on Bribie Island in sunny Queensland. I had a train set when I was young but other things then got in the way. A little while after I retired my wife suggested I get out a son's old train set. The first layout took up part of the study, the current one takes up half the garage.

The layout has no particular theme. The trains and buildings are OO and English. In my mind's eye the landscape is English but of no particular area.

The layout is DCC. I use a z21 with my mobile phone and and ipad as controllers. Not a big model train scene on Bribie, but I am fortunate that a member of this group, peterm, lives nearby and is a regular source of advice and expertise on decoders and other black arts. .

The buildings are a mixture of Metcalfe and Scalescenes kits and items from Hornby and Bachmann. But I have decided to have a go at scratchbuilding some buildings. So am reading anything and everything about plasticard and stryrene.

I will start a thread in the next couple of days with some photos

As well as peterm I have already had the opportunity to meet some of the other members of this group. And am looking forward to meeting more of you - at least electronically.

Regards
Evan

Hi Evan,

Welcome to the club.

Sympathy for the Devil - Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. I always think Keith did the first half of the song, Mick the kick the second half.

Hello Evan,

Welcome to the club.

Considering the time that I'm writing this reply,
I feel more like a midnight rambler!

A very warm welcome from France Ssamm.

Regardless of what you're planning, you'll enjoy looking through the threads on here - although you probably won't have time to do anything else !!!!

Thanks Petermac and Barney.

I have been lurking for quite a while and noticed how helpful and friendly this forum is. So I decided it was time to come out of the shadows.

Cheers
Evan

Welcome aboard, Evan.

I'm reasonably new around here as well, but they seem a friendly enough bunch!

Regards,

David V.

They certainly do. And the quality of the work is impressive. I often have trouble walking in a straight line much less drawing one so the effort put into the techniques and results from the scratchbuilding has prompted me to have a go.

Cheer
Evan
