I believe the new 44-tonners still come with the stub-axles and gear and that splitting can still on occasion be a problem.

Hi Gene,

Thanks. There are 3 generations of chassis under the original shell, the 3rd generation seems to have regular axles. This is Bachmann however...

By sheer coincidence I ordered this about 5 days before Nigel started this thread on April 23...it just arrived today after sitting in the Canada Customs warehouse for 10 days since April 24th. Enjoy.
