Just mystified by the many " image no longer in the gallery" signs in my gallery pics - all 900 pics plus of them apparently !

Could you tell me what images were they and why were they removed please ?

However, if they were of Lilly La Femme  or someone equally as delightfull climbing a pole, or indeed even descending one upside down,  which I may have slipped in alongside "How to ballast trackwork in three easy stages" or something similary as exciting, then no need to explain or tell anybody or email the wife !

Thanks and best regards.

Allan.

Hi Sol.

Maybe only I can see the "Image no longer in the gallery " signs - and there's quite a few.

Well, never mind, who knows, Bill Gates might explain it all to us one day !

Cheers.

Allan.

Hi Sol.

It's no thread in particular, but when I click on the "View photo's in your gallery" which comes up under my name on the left of the message board, it takes me to all the photo's I have ever put up on the forum ( and, much to my suprise, I didn't even know it was there !)

However, my question was, what do the signs mean that read "Image no longer in the gallery ", what images and who moved them and why ?

This isn't a complaint, just a curiosity.

Cheers.

Usually when an isolated problem like this occurs, it's a browser issue.

So, we should go back to the start.

Are you using the latest version of Firefox?

And which operating system are you using?  Windows 7 8 or 10?

Cheers

Thanks Owen, not to worry though as my personal files are also contaminated with senseless microsoft rubbish !

Cheers.

Allan

BTW, would it be permissable if I coppied and pasted all the pics in my gallery onto RMweb the other forum that I'm also a member of and, if so, how would I go about it ?

Many thanks.

Allan, as advised by Martin Wynne

*************************************************

Hi Ron,

re the topic on YMRC about Allan Downes missing images.

A great many images are indeed missing from his gallery, having been deleted at some stage.

Go here and scroll down a little way (the page will take a while to load fully):

 http://yourmodelrailway.net/gallery_view_slides.php?user=1427

I don't know when or why that happened, but I think you should at least acknowledge to him that there is a problem.

*******************************************************************************

Alan/ Spurno has also been advised

Any photos you have in the gallery, I guess are still in your PC & thus can copy them into RMWeb but if you haven't got them, then save them  by right clicking the picture & save it again into your PC - if you use a link between forums , it can/may create bandwidth problems

I had a look at that page as well.

Were they deleted because someone questioned the Copyright?

I don't think as Mods we can get into the gallery of others to deleted them, only from with the threads themselves. The copyright was mentioned by Martin and if the pictures are scanned photos from magazines, that could be another problem but I don't it is this case. Outside of Admin, I guess it is the member who can deleted his/her photos from the gallery.

That's what I meant, Sol.

If someone questions the Copyright, the member usually deletes the photo/s.

Also, some photos are deleted because of poor quality and then replaced once they have been re-shot.

It's only good manners for them to do that, as Alan is paying for the disc space.

Don't worry Alan, I know you wouldn't do that without good reason and in the interest of the forum.

I have the same kind of 'problem' in my files which are awash with some very weird and wonderfull microsoft stuff with no noticable explanation.

Over paid and under occupied Cyber Dick heads looking for recognition would you say ?

Best regards.

Hi All

Just a couple of questions

The images Allan can't see, can others actually see them, as there seems to be conflicting answers. If yes then as Max or Sol suggests it could well be a browser issue, and could do with both versions of browser posting (i.e. those that can and Allans version).
If the photo's are missing, and no-one has deleted them, then do you have enough drive space for the gallery ?.
As part of your backup strategy do you backup the gallery, if so you may be able to restore from the backups.
Allan when did you first notice the images missing, as that may help in pin pointing a restore time.

There is more than enough disc space on the server, Paul.

There is clearly something wrong with Allan's computer.

Hi Max

Only suggested server space as a possible cause, thats one down then.

So can other users see Allans pictures, or are they missing, I haven't tried looking for Allans posts and / or pictures.
Do you have a gallery backup from a couple of weeks ago, as you may be able to retrieve the pics from there.

After that I'm a bit stuck at what to suggest

Hi Paul

Allan said in an earlier post that he's having issues with a lot of his files.

It sounds a bit like a virus to me.

Cheers

Hi Max

Thats a relief, if images had been deleted incorrectly then the sql database integrity may have been compromised, I don't no a lot about sql, but I do know it could be a nightmare to sort.

I had a shufty at Allans photos I don,t know how many were supposed to be missing but I saw some were listed as no longer there, but it didn,t seem to be a lot, there seemed to be a huge amount still there.

Pete.
