I've eventually gotten to the stage where I can connect up my laptop running RR Silver, to the Digitrax controlled layout. However, I cannot take it Online. The status bar symbols are a green light with "Running" and a greyed out light with "Offline" If I click Offline (thinking I might go Online) the status just disappears. I believed that if was possible to run in Demo mode for a short period before parting with hard cash. Any thoughts. Regards Charlie |

You'll have to wait until the experts from down under and Canada come on line Charlie although I'm not sure how much help they'll be because they're not using Digitrax equipment. From what I remember, the demo version is only available on the computer. As soon as you connect it to a layout, you have to part with beer tokens ........... ![]() ____________________ 'Petermac |

I used to run RR&Co Gold in demo mode before I parted with the cash. I use digitrax. It ran for the 15mins or so before shutting down. Re-opening the programme would give you another 15 mins. Their website says: "The unregistered software closes the connection to your model railroad around 15 minutes after program start. After 30 days of actual use changes cannot longer be saved to the layout file. Days without usage of the software do not count as days of actual use. There are no other functional restrictions." It was the inability to continue to develop my layout file that was the reason that I decided I needed to give them the money. Not sure why your not able to go online. Is your PC interface working? i.e. can you use something like JMRI successfully with your setup? ____________________ Peter OO Bidley DCC Layout with TC8 Gold Model Railway Structures |

Not much I can add to Peter's (NZ ) excellent summary of demo mode restrictions. Regarding the connection, with Lenz , it's not exactly straightforward and you have to mess about a bit in order to identify the correct COM port# connection.......this may well be the case with Digitrax It doesn't sound to me as though you have followed all the steps required to establish an on line connection I am typing this with my iPad and don't have access to TC so I can't go into any detail but there is a heading on the first drop tab on the main menu covering digital connection.....have you gone there ? You will get more information from "help" and if you haven't already done so download the manual in PDF format HTH Regards from a very hot Mexico....as opposed to a wet Vancouver ![]() ____________________ John Granby III Lenz DCC,RR&Co Gold V9 B1 Windows 10 |

Gentlemen, Thanks for your help and with your advice I've cracked it. Indeed it was a PC connection issue and I can now drive my trains, change points etc. all be it for 15 minute segments. With this confidence I will now purchase the Silver edition. Sadly, I'm sure you haven't heard the last of me! |
